Dior Homme S/S 07 Paris

Hia yia. that was alot.

What's with the angel wings?

Hedi has become fashions Depeche Mode. Every now and then people decide he's out, but if he just continue writing songs he will still give sold-out stadium concerts for loyal fans until the day he o'ds. No matter what the critics say.

Yeah, thanks for taking the time. I really appreciate it!
I don't really get the angel wings either... I got the cape from the a/w collection, that was quite obvious, but why the wings? Oh well.

whoa.. now thats what you call thin!

after seeing some more pictures ive decided to take my referee decision back(as ridiculous as that may sound) and put it on hold till next season(if he's still at dior that is) .
.. id like to give another chance for hedi to come back and give a solid collection..this is ok, but he is capable of better.. god i feel like a disappointed parent.. you love the child but youre not satisfied with his/her performance! anyone hear me?

i do not know if he will keep on working for Dior. but it looks a finale (as Tom Ford did) resumé of his all works from 2001 to 2006.

(don't we have any details on shoes? they look weird! boots? platform shoes?

Given the fact that Sidney Toledano in position of CEO for DIOR HOMME and Mr. Slimane himself were tight lipped, it's almost sure he's LEAVING. It's on yahoo news,too..

i dont like it for myself and i dont like it from a sales perspective, but as a collection i like it. i like it because it has all of you guys talking about it. this is what a runway collection is supposed to do. it is supposed to move people, it is supposed to bring out an emotion in them, whether that emotion is positive or negatve.

Zamb, I think bc it is DH everybody will talk about it no matter what HS does.

I think the basic DH stuffs look good. Skinny jkc+ skinny jeans. A long tunic is a "new" thing (just like Ann D. and Raf S. does, but more rock (Ann D.) or masculine(RS)). HS just pair it with his tight jkts.

Do you think the long tunic + jkt is kind of "arabian style" (ok, I might have moved too far too fast).

The rest is just not very interesting. The styling is too literal, but it might be too obvious to tFSer and MySpacers, not to others, press, mainstream and such.

The worst thing I think is that he was into styling too much for the collection, instead of actually designing the stuffs. But close-ups might show interesting details. So still waiting:-)

Lately, every rumour has turned out to be true so I don’t see this one being an exception. Also would be nice to see Hedi embarked on a new journey. His work at Dior just doesn’t excite me like it use to be. I still like it but just doesn’t get my heart pounding…

Looking forward to see the FW2006 campaign....

thanks angie c for the pics

now that i saw the collection as a whole..i dont find the clothes or the hair cut look like geo...maybe one of two..but not as a whole

lots of great coats and jackets..maybe i ll get my hands on some
i see this collection as a summery of the past seasons..not too street (s/s06) not too formal (f/w06) and not too rock influenced (seasons before s/s06)
it would be nice to have some colorful leather/pleather pants other than black..since it's s/s

and i see jack XD hedi still havent got tired of him yet eh

Thanks for all the pictures Angie C. He has his unique talents, but this carrying one fashion note to the extreme season after season is showing his limitations, rather than explaining his range. There's got to be a point of balance where one stays consistent and true to himself but also change and experiment with new ideas and challenges. It looks like he's pressing the DH skinny ideal to a sort of consummation.

Kosmetique label is the new dior homme!

Good call. Found myself thinking that as well when I saw some of Kanya Miki's work. Dior with verve, with a more adventurous, more fluid, less rigid silhouette. The direction you wished Hedi had taken post-Strip.

To be honest, I don't think Kris van Assche is in a position to do DH better, and don't take offence, but Kosmetique is creative and experimental but too crude for DH. One thing HS has in common with RS is a diamond-sharp sensibility for cut and proportion, which is why they can do fine tailoring for expensive labels. RS is hitting his strides, HS seems stuck in a certain mode. Maybe if HS gives up the extra-curricular activities and the babyfood-induced malnutrition, it'll make a difference?

it is a designers ability to energize or stimulate conversation about his work, that ultimately makes him great. and hedi has been able to do this very successfully.
it is now the 'suits' and the production staffs' responsibility to translate his vision into sizes that the average customer can relate to (like what H&M did with Karl Lagerfeld's Work and caused him to be upset)

Hedi has already done his job, which is to create items according to an a viewpont that make the brand relevant and highly desireable (i personally dont like it as i find it too effeminate) but from a purely designer standpoint, he has done what is required of him and LVMH would be foolish to let him go, as he would be double foolish to want to leave (unlesss karl is giving him a job at Chanel which is the only possible place he could go after YSL and Dior....................

Everybody is talking about because Dior Homme is hype, that's all. If that was Burberry Prorsum, for example, you would not get this level of discussion. Marketing, marketing, marketing.

I for one love it. Some of it is a bit too feminine for my taste, but it still works, with the exception of the halter top:blink: . The sheer sweater and many of the coats are must-haves for me.

Ann Dem and Rick Owens - I concur.

People pine for a return to Strip/Luster because it was the high point of Dior Homme's couturesque golden age: it is therefore obligatory to whine plaintively about that lost era while hoping for reversion. Which is precisely why these scene/indie-rock influences are so infuriating - obvious, dates quickly, cheap, tacky (hello, couture??) and a bit pointless after 4 seasons of the same 'undercurrent'.

Avalanche,

The point was completely apposite. You asserted _tout court_ that there was no such thing as gender earlier, then repeated qualified your comments after I pointed out the obvious (that yes, gender exists, whether you like it or not). Your original point was that Hedi was trying to be clever about subverting gender stereotypes... I blew this conceit out of the water by showing that it is a nonsensical notion. That is all.

Absolutely agree :flower:
