Cloak S/S 06 New York

I received the fencing jacket from F/W 04 today, and while it's absolutely beautiful, it's bigger than I was expecting. It's a small, and I definitely think it fits like a small, snugly like on the runway. I wear an extra small, and while it sorta fits okay on my body, the sleeves are SOOOOOOOOOOOO damn long (multiple inches too long!), and the jacket itself is a few inches longer than I'd like. So much for it running super small. Oh well...to eBay it goes.
Yeah, unfortunately Alexandre's sizing was WAY off this season compared to previous ones. I tried on the one jacket that I liked from Fall, in a Small, and it was too large. Meanwhile, with the stuff I have from AW05, I fit mediums because the smalls were too small (I normally wear a 46 - 48 depending on the cut). I personally hate buying expensive clothing that needs to be retailored. You not only shell out for the item, but then spend more to potentially ruin it? I prefer not to make the purchase to begin with.

The desert boots from S/S 06... they look amazing

hopefully i'll be picking those up @ Colette next month :woot: (provided Colette has bought those for this season )

I came across Cloak a year ago and was totally stunned by Plokhov's work. I just love the material/cut & the attitude of his clothing. For me this collection seemed a hint more mainstream than the previous, but nevertheless it's gorgeous one.

I love Cloak and ever since watching "Seamless," I have developed a small crush on Alexandre. He's so cute, in an old guy kind of a way. I just want to hug him.

Cloak is now my favorite brand. I got a pair of the f/w 05 campaign jeans (my first real "designer" purchase) and they are great. However, now that this s/s collection is actually coming into stores, I realize that I don't like it nearly as much as the f/w one.

Also, I have read about some quality concerns about the clothing and I was wondering if anybody has any experience with the crew jacket from f/w 05 (If I got it (on sale now), I would be planning to wear it as a light jacket and maybe a sweater substitute)?

Saw some stuff from it over the weekend - some of it is REALLY well executed (but will it stand the test of time?) - especially the pants. There was one pair of tuxedo pants that were just awesome, and a pair that has a large side pleat that sort of hugs the pant leg.

I also loved the bags (one duffel and one planchet made of the same leather/canvas combination as the footwear), but WAY overpriced.

It's amazing how the prices went through the roof compared to FW 04. They are now in league with all the biggies.

BTW, I wasn't impressed with the footwear - you can do much better for that kind of money.

The one EdK bought and posted in the Secret Shopaholics thread a week or two ago looked really nice.

Yea, it's nice, but not for $600 (of course he has his Barneys discount, which hopefully is 40%, but still...)

Mmm, yeah the prices are pretty ridiculous now. There are some neat small collared black/gray striped polos at Barney's here in Boston, but they're like $300 or so... and made in some random country like Portugal or some place like that.

I think that "$300 for a Polo" pretty much speaks for itself.

Man I really want those desert boots so bad... it's just sad that no one stocks those in Europe, and if I should get it from the store in NYC I would have to pay 60% in VAT... :(

Faust, did you see those desert boots?

Yea (btw, not sure if you are using the "rolling eyes" icon properly - that usually indicates that "whatever" emotion). I don't think they are anything special. And they are $650 IIRC - not something I would pay for boots made mostly out of canvas and with a very thin sole. Like I said, you can do better with that amount of money...

This is basically sounding like Dior Homme pricing to me.

And yeah, Baizilla, I'm often confused by your eyeroll icon. Do you mean to use a  ?

Indeed. The $300 Polo gave that one away  - should we make it our default phrase for overpriced items?

Yeah, plus check out the men's shoes thread in shoes, some kid ordered them and they were two sizes off! Not as in he ordered a 10 and got an 8, but he ordered a 10 and got shoes that fit like an 8 (or vice versa, I can't remember). I've seriously never heard of something like that. They've got the worst QC of anyone I've ever seen trying to play in the big leagues.

For a few hundred more dollars, get Carpe Diems. Or Collection Privee, or whoever.
