Dior Homme S/S 07 Paris

I dont think alot of people understand what designers like Mr. Slimane are trying to do. People need to realize that there is a new movement of men that are masculine but do not submit to the stereotypes and concieved notions of what the word are. That is the allure of Dior homme and many up and coming designers right now, is the sense of exclusivness and an almost cult like pack is formed. You have to have a certain mind set, body and look to embrace and really understand what this is all about. You really have to be a inspired individual who doesnt give a crap about the commercialized and sociatal boundries that have been set in terms of what "maculine" is defined as. If you cant understand that then these clothes arent for you. Im sure there is a Dolce and Gabbana around
or better yet...Armani for those that are calling this disgusting.

A lot of it looks likes what Karen O wears, just for guys.

Personnally i dont thing its disgusting. I just think with the collection its different than previous because the models look more feminine than androgynious like before and the clothes are feminine for most. When i say that i think of myself and some friends who wear DH everyday and look quite great in it but dont see the brand as a new way of living or a new definition of masculinity. I wear DH jeans everyday because these are goods quality jeans with nice details and the lenght i like and i dont wear it skinny. And for me this collection is not a great one. But for people like many on forums who always talk about "LUSTER LUSTER STRIP LUSTER was better," AW2005 is crap", "tshirt are bad", "you have too be skinny to wear DH", "Kanye West wearing the red satin jacket look like sh*t" this kind of people will surely LOVE this collection. In an artistic critic of the collection i think it's very nice and the clothes are quite good. But i cant think this as a good collection because damned it will not suit me. Am i hard to understand? Im tired though ;/

hmm it doesn't look very wearable indeed, it's more innovating then ss 06 for sure but i personally don't consider that a good thing this time. most of this stuff is far to feminine. ofcourse their have been a lot of androgynous influences in dior, but it stayed wearable. this is taking it a stepp further. i did like the trench etc. but those are the constant factors in each collection. it will be interesting to see if hedi will continue down this path, i personally hope not, most of it is not for me.

in my opinion hedi tends to take influences from certain youth subcultures to literally. sometimes it's not about designing any more but simply copying stuff that he sees on the streets of the big cities and on internet sites like misshapes.....

I think you're correct in saying that the people who hate tees, feel all Dior Homme patrons must be skinny, hate trying to make Dior Homme individual, and feel that the newer collections (before F/W 06) suck will probably adore this collection. I feel that SS07 is far more ridiculous than Red or Solitaire, but they're both pretty abstract and unusual so I can see somewhat of a tie in. The people who love these collections are seemingly the die hard Dior Homme fans. However, they don't make up enough of a share in the market for the items shown on this runway to be profitable. Dior Homme is now about skinny suits, jeans and tee shirts. I guess in a way the runway clothing doesn't even matter anymore since such a small percentage of people actually buy the really unusual pieces. But, nevertheless, these effeminate items will not sell well at all.

this looks interesting but so far i get an ULTRA FEMME vibe here... some of those tops worn on the inside (do i see a halter top there? in post # 36) and out for that matter. id like to see more... I appreaciate the 'inventiveness' but is doing womenswear for men what progressive design is about?

so far i only like the last two looks is post #27, the safari take.. i dont understand the tight leather pants.. Its a golden rule for me NOT to wear them..no matter how 'cool' they are..

and with regards to the white-skin thing.. i really dont know.. being a person of colour myself, i cant think of anything but to sayt that hedi probably has some kind of fetish for rail thin white boys.. he's entitled to it.. but im not sure if I approve of it.. well to each his own i suppose.. i hope hedi knows that he also has non-white people who follow his clothes..

I was one of the people complaining about kayne West and I'm not liking what I see here. I think the collection looks a little too feminine especially with those bracelets the models have on and how the clothes are cut. But, of course this is just my opinion. I think these clothes would look better styled in a different way then how their styled for this show.
