Dior Homme S/S 07 Paris

At first glance, I think it's a huge improvement over last spring, which I think was easily the worst DH collection ever. I can understand it being ultrafeminine since Slimane wants to do a women's collection and women seem to snatch up the petite-sized DH pieces already. I haven't let this collection sink in yet, but so far I'm just glad that there's something to really look at...not just jeans and sneakers with a jacket and tie here and there. The only things that bothered me immediately while browsing through the pictures were the safari jackets. They've been in the shows since S/S 05 and they haven't exactly been improved since then, so that kills some momentum for me. Overall, the collection seems to hit on elements from many previous collections, which makes looking through it kind of fun. As for comparisons, Helmut Lang and Raf Simons both come to mind.

I don't understand why people are going on how bad this collection is? Is it really that different from what he's done before? And can people please start looking behing the nhipster comparison, I don't know.. maybe I' just not that familiar with it, not living in LA, but it's tirsome hearing it over again.

If theese clothes are designed more for women-then great! This is something I would wear.

So what is it's not groundbreaking? Are any collections really theese days? I really want to understand all the harsh critisism or is it maybe because DH is so commercial now?

I do agree that this is not very creative..cut it's not that bad, I still like some blazers.. they been done before but..

=) i am personally satisfied and impressed by the collection's styling. a slightly gothic mod look. lol.

okay i dont know if you all will agree but this .. to me... looks like a mixed collection of

1. red / boys dont cry

2. luster

3. VOTC

firstly look at how the jackets and upper "body" accessories are styled, it automatically reminds me of the way it is done in 02 RED. the pants and leather accessories.. especially the top in on one of the models ... does look like a "modified" replica of the one that appeared in luster....

if anyone doesnt see it i will post another reply to show you....

and sharp, clean aesthetics .... mainly jackets and tops with tons of details... shadows VOTC ???

overall im liking this collection ... and i sure will spend a small fortune on it, but im just 17 year old kid ... sigh. =)

HEY it does look like hedi is sneaking stuff from THE HORRORS.:ninja:

chance of horrors being the other band hedi decides to promote?? nudge..... eight legs??

cheers,
Ross !!:p

You know something is wrong with the fashion industry when some expect him to move on to something else when it's been a nano-blink of an eye in terms of time since he's changed the general look of menswear.
Fashion does not change every 6 months.
If others copy, then it makes for a move forward. Look at Yamamoto. He's been doing the same 80's tailoring for since, well.... and he has his following whatever one may think about them. At least he has his own take on things and will always be considered a pioneer of sorts. All to him for at least having a finger on the general pulse and sharing it to the rest of the world.
The same indie boys will probably scratch their 2 pennies together to buy one piece from this collection.

After looking at the entire collection, my original opnion has been reinforced. This is by far the worst (and gayest) Dior Homme collection ever.

:flower: You could have add "feminine"!!!! and then these three words would look great together!!!

Anyway...

The music is on dior homme website
It's from The Littl' Ans (everyone of you MUST know this band, for sure  )
It's called We Look Good Together
And it's not bad, quite boring sometimes

Fashionken asked me to post photos from wgsn.com so here they are :flower:

Only close-ups as someone already posted full shots.

i see the the collection more as a retrospective of ALL hedi's work at DH and, on the whole, i really like what he's has done. while the collection isn't as innovative as we've seen from hedi, i still see fresh looks and a huge improvement on the past two collections which are my least favourite.

the tailoring of the suits and jackets is as superb as ever. these pieces really do look like a 'greatest hits' from past collections with new twists. they will no doubt look good on a lot of different people and sell like hot cakes.

i also love the quirkier, gender-bending pieces which may be for everyone but i'd definintely wear them. i totally agree that, outside of a biological context, 'masuline' and 'feminine' are social contructs and hats off to the designers with the vision and conviction to blur traditional boundaries. people should be free to wear whatever the hell they want. it also annoys me when people say the clothes are 'too gay'. to me, this is incredibly short-sighted and stereotypical.

BUT if this is hedi's last DH collection, i can't help but feel he could have gone out with more of a bang. maybe he's saving that for his next move...

Thank you so much! There are so many details you don't get to see from those tiny Vogue photos, so this is awesome.

I agree once again. Your comment made me think of that Oscar Wilde quote: "One should either be a work of art ... or wear a work of art"

he also said, "fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months."

wow finally some straight figure clothes.
