if you have access to mtm or bespoke clothing (financial barrier) you definitely have a lot of options color/texture/material-wise (maybe even more as a women because the market for men clothing is bigger), nevertheless as a men you are narrowed down to a single breasted or double breasted suit… at least if you want to look elegant (ok add a tux, depending on the event).
So IMHO woman do have more combination options: different dresses result in a variation in the amount of skin that shows and more patterning options… not that many people make use of that
