How often do you buy designer clothes?

I'm only a senior is high school so I don't have much money for designer items.... I don't buy too much myself, but I receive gifts from my father (we don't live together i live with my mom) who really likes to be "well-dressed". He buys me handbags and coats/jackets occasionally, (when he feels particularly guilty or if I get good grades).

He's bought me a sky blue Balenciaga office/work, Vivienne Westwood winter tartan, Gucci and LV and some others. I also borrow a lot from my mom whenever I can.. =P

I have a big shoe fetish though...I am addicted to shoes!! I buy heels all the time...I just got a round toed Vivienne Westwood mary-jane stacked heel from Ebay... I also like VW jewellery alot... My bf also buys me designer stuff...

I buy some Marc Jacobs stuff only when it's on sale though... The only brand name store near me is Holt Renfrew, but they sometimes overprice =(

About 50% of wardrobe. 25% bought on ebay, saks, mum's hand ons etc. 25% uber orginals-by me! :P

basically when i get the money to finally buy those expensive designer items on my wish list.

also my best friend INTER is a great help in what concerns that... she has paid for some of my fave designer items, i must confess...

Anywhere from $600 - $2000 a month on designer pieces. I try to shop online at auction sites and what not to save some money, but I do admit I sometimes go overboard... The sad thing is that I only manage to get 2 or so nice pieces with that amount of money.

I don't unless you count a Sportmax blouse I bought in a charity shop and a Betsey Johnson dress I bought at a youth-center rummage sale.

Well, I guess I did get a Donna Karan sweater at a different thrift shop another time.

Put briefly, I don't buy new clothes, and when I actually buy clothes, it's at a thrift shop. I don't specifically seek out brands...usually I look at condition, cut, style, and fabric content first, and if it turns out to be a posh brand then that's just another detail.

Now I have taken inspiration from some designer goods when I am designing my own clothes, but overall, I don't really love a lot of the designer stuff out there, and ALL of it is way, way, way beyond my budget. Like I did totally covet this one Cynthia Steiffe jacket a couple of years ago, but can't afford $500 for one garment...that is more than I spend in probably three years on clothes. But I did save a picture of the jacket and use it for inspiration for a new suit.

i own a few designer items:

-christian loubotouin gold stilleto maryjanes full price from barneys
-dkny bronze peep toe wedges full price from zappos
-cynthia rowley faux snakeskin saddlebag clutch on sale and with employee discount
-oscar de la renta silk zebra print scarf $5 at a thrift store

in the future i want to actually start making my own clothes cause most stuff i want i cant find or its too expensive or doesnt fit, and i shop alot at urban outfitters, thrift/vintage stores, h%m, my favorite is anything vintage, the designer pieces i do have i dont regret and are really staple pieces, the shoes i only wear on special occasions but i always have the perfect party shoes, the bag was my first real evening clutch and it looks great for day too, and the scarf is really classic and pulls togethher any outfit

i want to start planning out my wardrobe looks and budget more each season to maximize my collection rather than impulse buying, i find that when i have a vision in my head its much easier to resist random temptations, and when i have a $$$ limit its easier to find items with lasting value

Uhm.. 98% of my wardrobe consists of garments from designers. :ninja:

When I buy designer clothes I'm very picky, I only buy into Belgian and Japanese designers.

I don't buy clothes every month, because living in Copenhagen, I don't really have access to the designers I like. I rarely shop online, because most of the time they don't have my size or they are sold out.

However with the advantage of my location, I will save up to splurge on a shopping trip... to Paris or Antwerp.

I normally don't buy designer clothes, but I have bought some (when I could afford it )

I buy some pieces full price per season, but only if they're really special and I'm sure there's non left in my size for the sales. Normally it's tailored pieces, knits or shoes. I also do personal orders with some designers my friends are working for. Then I get the stuff for wholesale price and delivered before it even hits the shops! Then there's the press and sample sales in Paris and Antwerp, when you can find really amazing bargains.

about 70-80 percent of my wardrobe is designer ,and with designer I don't mean dior, chanel but slightly less expensive; emporio armani (my absolute favorite brand),chloe, ralph lauren (all labels), dries van noten (go the Belgians!!!!) etc, I buy a lot during the sales too and mix those pieces with zara etc

i only buy designer jeans, perfume and assesories like the odd bag or scarf eg. skull scarf, pucci scarfs etc. and i have a few designer jewlry pieces .. also good for me my dad wears glasses so is all for protecting the eyes etc. so every year he buys me a "descent pair of sunglasses" so i usually get designer sunglasses as well .. although saying that ive already broke a burberry pair, a chanel pair, a gucci pair so maybe i should buy cheaper ones this year.

non at all i have no designer pieces sadly, if i saved up for ages i geuss i could afford a skirt or something but id rather be able to buy 10 from h&m (about 50% of my wardrobe is from their) or topshop or where ever. the quality is better from designers but id rather have loads than 1.

I probably pick up a piece or two every week often from sites like ebay or from private sellers. Boston doesn't have THAT much to offer in terms of the designers I'm looking for so if I buy from a store, it's usually in NYC (once a month about...)

Comes down to about what Tourni spends, but closer to the low end. Perhaps $500 a month on average? Maybe $1k.

As often as vintage stalls and shops etc store them, as long as they are cheap. I am a student so im poor and just can't go for the full price products of course.lol. Im sure i am like most other people here.

I wear a lot of Walter Van Beirendonck, and some Bernhard Willhelm. But I have found most of it at INSANELY reasonable prices. My most proud moment was getting a 1400 dollar Walter Van Beirendonck for $150!

I usually buy my designer and more up-scale things at sales/promos, eBay, online shops, etc. and/or get them as gifts (yay for Xmas and birthdays), I can only think of a couple of times I've paid full-price (and even then it wasn't that expensive because it was from Diesel). Thrift/resale, too.

I have few designer clothes, maybe arouns 5 pieces, i prefer to buy designer-acessories.
Acessories:

1/3 designer
1/3 highstreet
1/3 vintage / brands like Marc by MJ, Filippa K, Tiger etc

Shoes:

1/3 a little more expensive brands like Marc by MJ, Filippa K, Tiger etc.
1/3 high-street
1/3 - vintage

Clothing:

2/6 high-street
2/6 - little more expensive brands like Marc by MJ, filippa K, Tiger, etc
1/6 designer
1/6 - vintage

How often i monthly buy designer / other clothes varies dramatically. And for the amount of money, it also really depends, and i anyway find it to be a personal thing.
