Do you recommend using epilators?

Because wax doesn't do the job at all anymore. The wax doesn't stick to the strips. I've tried using babypowder, and exfoliating. Does anyone else have the same problem?:(

I would definitely recommend using epilators. I've been using one for a while now for my legs and underams (and bikini when i'm feeling brave and a bathing suit is in order!). Although it is painful the first few times you use it, the pain gets less and less every time. I would suggest that you have a professional wax on the areas where you want to get rid of hair, and then when the hairs start to grow back I would start using the epilator as regularly as you can. I use it approximately once a week to get the hairs as they grow then it's not such a big job and doesn't hurt as much. The hairs definitely grow back finer and more sparce and I find it a lot less messy than waxing, and less expensive than having a professional treatment every few weeks.

I have the Babyliss epilator (it comes with an ice attachment which I have never used because I always thought it would be more painful when the skin is cold, but I'm not sure)

thanks peppermintpink (love the name!). i've seen a few babyliss ones, i'll give it a try. i heard that it's less painful 'icing' them down.

You're welcome Vanilla Lush. Perhaps I'll give the ice thing a try and let you know how I get on.
Hope you find it ok

I use a babyliss too and it's been my savior. I'm waaay too hairy to deal with shaving and would go broke if I had to only wax.

I love it, I'm totally used to the sensation now, there's no pain at all. The only negative thing is that I get a ton of ingrowns when the hair is growing back, but I bet if I actually took the time to exfoliate and worry about it I'd be fine.

I used to get loads of ingrown hairs too, which meant that I would never have my legs on show because they were covered in red bumps. I've been using Tend Skin on my legs for about three months now and I've really noticed a difference (I had previoulsy tried everything recommended, like skin brushing and exfoliation etc- I still do these things but it definitely is the Tend Skin that has helped). Just in the past few weeks I had run out of Tend Skin so I bought another brand by Nads (in a green spray bottle). The ingredients were more or less the same, but I find that the spray is better. I spary some into my hands and rub it all over my legs and underarms before I go to bed.

If you are trying to save money there is a home receipe for Tend Skin in the Household Beauty thread.

Yes, I would also recommend epilators. It's the best thing I have found for me. Shaving does not work well; it only lasts an hour before hair starts growing back. Waxing is too messy even though it keeps the hair away longer. Epilation is like a cross between the two, only it lasts longer and it is far from messy.

A few months ago my epilator broke. I moved to Canada at the end of last month so I thought there was no point in buying one until I am here. I had trouble finding one, so my hair on my legs grew back to its original length and quite a few hairs were lighter than I remember and I had some bald patches, too.

Spooky, as I was just thinking about epilators.

Waxing is fine, but I've never mastered the ability to do it myself. It would be nice to have something effective that I could do at home! I asked my dermatologist about laser hair removal and she said that it's not really perfected yet.

My initial online research seems to point to Emjoi products. They have quite a few, anyone use them?

hello! ok, finally i've bought one.....!!! and yes i highly recommend epilators. at first i was scared of the noise it made, but it's quick and made my legs smooth. have to wait and see if i get any ingrowns...

Big THANKS girls!
