I saw those too, those were D&G though, for the spring/summer 05 collection...it looks like the signature collection version is inlaid with swarovski crystals.

The nostalgia. The fact that people were complaining about how this is repetitive is funny. I wish Dolce & Gabbana would deliver something like this now.

I think the difference about the complaint of repetitiveness then versus the repetitiveness now of their collections is that during this time - while the collections might have all been fairly similar - at least they reflected/influenced the look of that moment culturally...that's how people really wanted to and did dress (and many people do still prescribe to that particular D&G look). Their Sicilian widow look that they've been pushing now for the last 5 years, however, is so culturally irrelevant - and that's why it's so grating.

Not to mention the hot mens they used to cast! And this "guido" look has stood the test of time - you still find people (well, at least where I live, New Jersey, home of the guidos) dressing like this. No one is walking around in the Sicilian men's look they've been churning out - I suspect not even Sicilian men look like that.
