I like the color in this ad. Rich and mysterious. The car doesnt bother me much, but I do think it would have looked better if the car was dissolved out a bit, less defined in the overall look. Cate is fab!

I think the car gives the ad a more of a narrative feel. If it were just a woman in the desert it would look like any fashion editorial. But the man with the car proposes many questions. Who is he? Why is she in the desert with him? Is he leaving her? Did they fight? Will he leave her to fend for herself? It gives the ad a realistic feel and I don't think it was left in the picture by accident.

chickonspeed called it on the narrative feel. The March mags are out and we're seeing the story unfold. The ad in Harper's Bazaar shows Cate riding shotgun. Her profile, the whole picture is gorgeous.
