Dries van Noten

Laika, they're all covetable, rly. Decisions, decisions...

The first boot is classic and will certaintly work with everything. The purple bootie is gorgeous though I prefer the lower heeled version. The third pr. are so special and a personal favorite. Perfect mixture of classic and esoteric, imo. Surely one could work them into any outfit somehow! The last pr. are a novelty of sorts - they're romantic but definitely suited for 'mood' outfits. In my reality they'd work beyond their spectrum, though.

So I guess it's a matter of classic vs. special?

laika- you are making me consider returning all the other shoes i bought recently and going to get myself some of those dries...
...

...

you girls put me to shame but as promised, thanks to my perplexed but agreeable husband.

dries dress from f/w 07 (with ann d. boots)
dries top from s/s 07 (with the f/w 08 txell miras skirt I just got). I wouldn't usually put these two together but wanted to show how beautiful this skirt is, curiously it [actually] works fairly well. photos don't do it justice which is always the case with intricate details.

I cannot give you karma atm, but thanks for posting these pictures ... I "get" that sequin top now that I've seen it on you ...

as far as i am concerned...
the high ones are AMAZING...
i would get those...
BUT- they will never fit my skinny chicken legs...:(

so then i would cross the zippers off the list...
they are nowhere near as good as the other two...plain and simple...

i also have really tiny ankles...
so - much as i live for the oxford lace ups...chances are they will look like boats on my feet because they always do...

so now i have narrowed it down ...
at least for me......
i can only get the ones that tourist got!...

laika..
if you can wear the high ones...
i suggest pawning everything you own and buying them...
:p

i guess i am going to have to satisfy myself with these zara's...
the heel is pretty similar, no?
i was so happy when i found these...
but now i am confused again...

*thanks a lot you guys...:hardhead:.........

...

i guess i like that the heel is lower...
i am on my feet and walking around a LOT...
it's not practical to have a heel that high unless you drive to work and have a desk job imo...:ermm:...

that is another reason i vote for the tall dries boots!...

 Soft, you're hilarious. The Zara boots are a great find. Don't see any harm in adding those Dries booties Tourist purchased to your wardrobe as well, though... :innocent: :woot:

Laika, I only just saw the black preference bit. Since the patent wine was never an option to begin with, I say go with the tall boot or the lace-ups. Get both if possible.! :D

I love the purple ones on Mona Moore. Everything about its shape is perfect. I can't explain, but it's just so nice for the eyes to look at. I'd prefer it in black, but the purple would be nice to add to the wardrobe too.

Ahh Tourist bought the booties Laika posted!

I was referring to the boots Lucky posted, though. They're probably too low, no?

heel. too. high.

:hardhead:...

Who would have though Dries would make a too high heel?
And who would have thought that having super slender legs could ever be a problem?

I think your and wiw's assessment is pretty spot on...I'm glad you guys eliminated the patent ones, anyway. The tall ones were my initial choice but they are so pricey. And I just bought something else expensive.

You are so right about the height though...a real problem for us city dwellers. NYC is so hard on shoes and I have to cross 4 aves just to get to the subway.....not so fun in high heels.

Those brown booties are A-dorable, btw. The heel is perfect.

I am thinking I will save up for the tall and maybe (if there are still funds) try to get the lace ups on sale. I agree that they would work with lots of stuff....I am imagining them with red tights for reason.

We'll see....I am being taken on a mystery European trip the first week of november to some place where, I am told, there might be good shopping. :innocent:

ok, here they are. They are the same as the monamoore version, but with a lower heel and in black. The flash makes the boots look brown but they are definitely black in person.

^is it just me, or is the heel lower than the mona moore?

soft, I have wicked skinny legs with ankles to match and the lace ups def do not look like boats, they are narrow so they remind me more of victorian booties. grandma would have loved them. try it, you'll like them. barney's in bh has them in brown and black. the tall boots are the perfect tall boot, and I know laika has her heart set on those babies. I think the ones tourist bought are the perfect mid-calf boot, dries's footwear just keeps getting better and better.

the zara boot remind me of margiela boots this season. keep them, I could totally see wearing those with cool socks.

I guess, we are all online and posting at the same time.

tourist, those rock. the brown is scrumptious.

red socks, that is such a great idea... I've been craving something in red.
the heels came in 3 different heights this season.

laika, OMG, what's the deal with this mystery holiday???

laika I'm pretty sure the heel on mine is lower than the monamoore version. They are a very comfortable height for me! Agree with everyone else, though, those tall boots are gorgeous. Can you imagine having a tall boot with that much buttery leather??

softgrey Those zara booties are totally cute! The dries and zara booties are similar but somehow have a different feel ... you'd probably wear them with different outfits. :D

thanks luckyme! I am in love with the laced booties you got too. I hope you post a picture sometime!

Laika, I think you're going to Antwerp!!!! Dries heaven! Perhaps you'll find the lace-ups at a phenomenal price?! :buzz:

Tourist, I love your booties. Perfection.

I guess I've been a good girl, or something. :woot:

wiw, Antwerp is a good guess....but we went there two winters ago, so I am thinking this will be someplace different. :p It is DEFINITELY heaven though, and not just for Dries!

tourist
, i just love those booties so much. I love the zippers he used this season--they are a bit chunky and tough, which offsets the softness of your look unbelievably well.:heart:
