Dries van Noten

Thanks Laika and Tourist! I'm sure I'm going to love them. I have a pair of Dries pumps and I think they're so gorgeous. My university campus has A LOT of hills though, so i am usually too lazy to wear heels. Going down a steep hill in heels hurts! :p

Misako - I love the orange boots you posted. They are a loverly colour.

sofgrey, you are right, the t is the epitomy of the collection simply stated. so lovely and it makes you neck look a mile long.

yes, we had an awesome day :flower:. it was such a treat for me. I posted my impression of the trunk show in D & C here.

these are the two prints that I got, the first is the sweater but in a much cooler drapey style, reminded of a Vermeer painting, and the second is a sleeveless silk v tunic in two prints one being the same as the pant the black, teal and aubergine colors, I think, soft did I remember that correctly? also a hunter green silk blouse with poofy sleeves that had pieces of fabric in regtangle slivers that looked like a necklace. all very cool...thankfully I had my stylist with me...

lucky - i think there are actually three prints on the silk slvless top you got... two on the front and another on the back maybe? or is the back the same as the bottom print? not sure though...:ermm:... i just remember that one of the prints was sort of a geometric 'pucci' print and the other was a softer floral patternn in raspberries, periwinkles and blueberry tones... sort of purple-y overall... with that lovely gathered bit between the shoulder blades... love the silk on that as well... that's the only one i picked out anyway--- you picked the rest all on your own... so i don't think you have much need for a stylist... ;)

yep...we went together!...
and then took a field trip to the comme store and went to a gallery to see a photo exhibit called 'myths'...

the photographer did a series of images in iceland illustrating various icelandic stories...
using models and icelandic fashion designers...
we got to meet the artist and his wife who told us all about the work which was so cool...
there is also a beautiful short film...
*i'll post details in the art and design forum if anyone is interested to see more...
the images are on his website...

then we had drinks at bottino..
it was quite lovely actually...^_^

geez....Bottino...you guys were practically at my house! Wish I could have gone too...next time, I hope.

Sounds like a very lovely day. Thanks for the tip about the exhibit, I will have to pop over and see it.

lucky, those sound and look like great pieces. It sounds like you were able to distill pretty easily what will work for you. i can't wait to see them on..

and soft, that is a perfect top. I don't think barney's ever had it, although they did have a few t-shirt type things (not the best colors though). Maybe Butter...

So I already mentioned this to softgrey, but mystery trip destination has been disclosed...and we are going to Paris! :bounce: (luckyme, you were right!)

I can't wait to see the Dries shop there!

oh yeah- i forgot that they opened a dries shop in paris...
you have to tell us everything!...

and what about a pic of your boots laika!!!...
:judge:...

come on!!!!!!!!!
you know we are all drooling and lusting for them...
i didn't see them anywhere on my travels...
but i did feel the leather on a similar pair at barney's ...

like BUTTAH!!...
^_^

*you should have seen lucky trying to get me to try stuff on and buy stuff laika......
i almost caved in at the comme store...
but i made it out safely...
:innocent:...

i never see such good prices for dries anymore...
around here it all gets snatched up now...

^ What a great tFSer to let everyone know :flower:

Just came here to say that I'm glad you guys had a great time (and found great stuff :woot:). I love the sound of the blouse with the pieced "necklace." I have no notes to compare ... it was a cold dreary rainy Monday, took me forever to get to work, and I decided not to also take a long lunch to take in the trunk show ... Probably a good thing as other challenges have cropped up this week that are demanding my time (not to mention $$$) ;)

ALEEEEEEEEEEEEee
you gotta get it and i pay you double!!! woot!
ive been in love with that jacket for the longest time!

soft, that is a great dries piece  i think i was looking at it on browns as well. i love it when he does these more affordable pieces ;)

There is a Barney's Outlet @ Sawgrass Mills??! And moreso, with Dries in stock?:buzz:

Thanks for the info, Alejandro! I will definitely have to check that out.

here's me in my new dries top...
^_^...

i saw a girl on the street today wearing the purple wedges...
she looked pretty good- i must say..
she wore them with purple tights and grey cropped trousers...
very tailored look in general...

but you could tell that the shoes were pretty much the main attraction..
she definitely put that outfit together around those shoes...
^_^...

very beautiful softgrey

nice dries boots

softgrey - that top looks great on you! I prefer over the beaded version, I think, b/c it seems more versatile. Not to mention better priced!

runner - thanks for posting those boots, those are really nice. The shape of the toe is always so flattering and comfortable. Are they men's or women's?

:o
