Dsquared2 S/S 11 Milan

The Catens do every season what they think canadian sportswear(?) is ... it is like a high end version of Tommy Hilfiger (now, THERE is atrocious bad quality all over the place), and their formula has succeeded with the infusion of little details of luxe on sportswear pieces ...

We cant ask much of Dean and Dan because they are .. party throwers (or organizers) not designers ... to my knowledge they didnt attend a fashion school what they do is .. style? ... still I see that they are daring to cut and do more in this season .. of course some of the styling and sunglasses reminds me of Tom Ford's Gucci .. but the clothes dont ... did you see the lace? I dont recall them doing lace like, ever ...

So .. nothing new under the sun, but its OK

it's not tacky at all, okay maybe some pieces are. Still, I like a lot of looks and some could work so well as separates.

Hmmm it's almost too boring for DSquared...I count on them to bring the tacky into the mix. I guess I'm just sick of seeing boaters and huge sunglasses.

again with all those haters in this thread, seriously, to the left with ya'll.

that menswear look in #2 is stunningly sexy. it's obviously menswear inspired, but the fit of the blazer and the blouse underneath hug the body just right, i bet there's great pinning in the back of the blazer. combined with that panama hat and those 70s sunnies, this is hot stuff. i'd stare at the woman walking in that, in total disbelief how well she's embodying the 'menswear for women' look.

i don't see whats wrong with those pants, out of the whole outfit it's the only part where i'd believe that she took it directly from her boyfriend/man and for that, it's fine.

my only objections are to the white socks + black shoe combo. strappy high heels and we'd talk serious business.

people saying the runway stuff from D² is cheap (or cheaply made) clearly have no idea of the brand.

Cheap : low quality. this is clear enough i guess. Here we have clothes we already can find at Zara Boulevard Haussmann. So what i said is there is no need to present things we already saw, with nothing new and "made in china" quality on a show as it is "high fashion". It's good to say we doesn't know anything about the brand, but apprently u forgot this brand is told and wanna be a "high fashion" brand.

I'm not really a big DSquared fan, but their collections still make an impression. This I don't know. This collection just doesn't tell me anything, it's simply there. Very uninspiring.

increasingly, stating that something can get found at zara really doesn't speak to the brand's quality so much so as it speaks to the quickness of the internal design team at zara to literally copy fresh-off-the-runway fodder. the quality of a prada blazer for all intents and purposes really goes unquestioned, however, zara creates their blazers to look exactly the same: is it made of the same materials and workmanship? hardly. if you ever have a chance to actually try on a piece of dsquared -- not a t-shirt, not a pair of flip flops, not a trucker hat -- you'd see their goods speak for themselves.

^hence why i spoke of 'runway stuff'. i know those tees and belts and seriously tacky 'sportswear' they churn out is their bread and butter, but they use the money to cut some seriously well fitting garments. (i don't take D&D serious anyway. especially not after sitting by at an interview with a reporter i'm friendly with. it's like hearing two squirrels on caffeine talk and cut into each other's sentence )

but for what it's worth, Dsquared does some great clothes, both for men and women.

and if Zara is so bad (Blvd Haussmann, St Honore or anywhere else) then Celine, Chloe and Marni must be really really bad, since Zara is currently SWAMPED with lookalikes.

that said...

i'm DYING over those blazers. esp the croc ones. omfg. *thud* dead. like that.

i'm still perplexed as to *HOW* this blazer was cut to make it fit the girl so perfectly.

it still looks a bit like she pulled it out of her bf's closet (granted, he would have to wear a size 40 or 42 in blazers lol) but still so utterly feminine.

Those glasses have to go! Im super confused as to why they would use them. Some pieces are actually nice but I felt it was a little tamed compare to some previous collections.

can we all PLEAAASE get over geek glasses?... what a boring collection. and I usually like dsquared

well, from a stylistic perspective, they're going for the super-prep idea. amongst that crowd, the ironic plastic nerd frame is not uncommon. from a business perspective, i'm sure you know that designer eyewear -- both sun and optical -- remain huge cash cows for these houses. it's a HEAVILY subsidized market here in the united states with most employer-based insurance plans picking up the tab for a new pair of frames each year.

They're actually very Tom Ford and anything even 1% within Ford's territory will sell like beef schnitzel ;)

Actually i wear designer's clothes....And i already compared many of the brand which appears on this site. why is it so hard to admit that Dsquared is on of the most marketable brand, paying more attention to campaigns and prices of their clothes than to their clothes quality ?

it's not "hard to admit"; some of us who actually own pieces from dsquared2 just happen to disagree.
