Dsquared2 Mens S/S 2011 Milan

poor dsquared2, when they present collections full of fun staples and sportswear deluxe, they're accused of not being 'real designers' and when they present a collection that's actually about color and cut, they're accused of being boring and irrelevant. i suspect they will have a d2 line or something similar soon so that they can pursue both fashion customers without turning one off by appealing to the other like their elders in the game, dolce and gabbana.

as for this collection, i'm astounded that high-waisted, straight cut, well-tailored pants in denim and other fabrics suddenly looks FRESH and flies in the face of trend. what further boggles the mind comes in trying to identify the reference point for that look: is it the seventies? seriously, if you squint and turn your head a little , it's tom ford's gucci re-born. or is it something more? or have they updated it in a way where it feels seventies by way of the nineties in some wierd combination? because it's not bell bottoms but it's also not sharkskin so it's a toss up.

no matter what: it's an amazing feat and definitely outside of their comfort zone. i'm impressed they managed to make that look HOT again. who knew non-skinny non-bootcut non-low-waisted jeans could actually look good like that AGAIN?

This collection was, to be perfectly honest, boring. I don't like DSquared2 when they're TOO gimmicky, like S/S10 or A/W10, but they do best (IMO) when they stay true to what they do best: tailored clothes with just enough panache to stand out from the sea of well tailored clothes that parade the runways of Milan, Paris, New York, London, Sydney, Sao Paolo et al.

the set and the collection are just the boring version of their spring summer 2007 show.
what's even worse is they wrote the prediction like they are kickass. i was expecting something really good from them. now it's all blah.

i have to say its CR*P, and i think they should stick to more clubby wear and not this CR*P they need to go out more often and see what people are wearing like who the hell wants to dress as J Travolta like please..they need to wake up ..terversa..dublin.

This is tame for DSquared, but it's a fun collection. The suits are sharp and cool. But I wouldnt poke the coloured jackets with a stick.

Dsquared gets a lot of flack for being gimmicky but honestly they make great clothes ,esp when you see their clothes on the racks. The pants are superb and their clothes do sell really well.

Honestly it seems that's the reaction here for any collection.

Most of the time when I see a collection and I think it's beautiful and wearable, I see a ton of comments calling the collection boring and not innovative.

I can see the distinction between fashion and just making clothes, but not everyone can be a Galliano or an Alexander McQueen.

seems that dsquared have moved their design aesthetic quite a bit. The boys really do look more mature and less frivolous now. honestly i do miss their older designs sometimes, but am sure these will still be in the shops albeit not showing on the runway:heart:

This is pretty dreadful. Whats up with the pleated jeans? We are not going back to that look...EVER!

^someone said this about skinny jeans and leggings, too.
