Du Juan

Did anyone get HQ of The July Issue of I-D? ive been trying to find her editorial scanned for a while, all ive seen are previews...

Loving the Gap ad:D Both Julia and Du look lovely........but I think Du just takes it from Julia here.^_^ Thanks for posting Iggy.:flower::flower:

I'm sure it's been mentioned here before, but Du is her last name. I find it funny that everyone calls her by that name.

That interview was adorable, I love how pronounced Beyonce's name as Bee-ance :crush:

Well, everyone calls Jessica Stam by her last name too so there's precedent ^_^. Personally, I'd find it weird calling her "Juan" since I'm more familiar with that as a boy's name in Spanish .

In Chinese names the surname comes before the first name. :flower:

Wow, I did not know that. So her real name is Juan Du?

If it was written in the Western style, yes. In East Asian cultures (e.g. China, Japan, Korea), they always start with the surname first. And Juan wouldn't be pronounced like the Spanish name "wan" but more like "dj-uen". It's kind of a hard sound to explain because there's no English equivalent.

^^ I know it wouldn't have a Spanish pronunciation if it's Chinese . But thanks for the explanation anyway :flower:.
