So, a French designer shouldn't use a French model?
You know that's not what I meant! ;)

It's definitely more obvious when a designer with an Asian background uses someone of the same ethnicity to promote their products - I just don't think it's the wisest decision for globalization in terms of their market, that's all :)

I'm sure it wouldn't matter though. She's perfect for Anna Sui in my opinion. Quirky and doll like.

Du is SO cute! And she takes to makeup really well no matter what it is. Also, her eyes are very emotive as well! And I'm agreeing with the notion that she has the cutest lips ever.

As far as globalization is concerned, the Asian race is the largest, so the chances of an Asian designer bumping into an Asian model are statistically large. I believe that we are ALL ethnic- white, brown, yellow, red. And those of us who are mixed-up.

wow a Vogue photog here! Great job bluedolphin :flower:

Uchina there are fewer Asian models in this side of the industry so the chances of an Asian designer bumping into an Asian model are statistically small.

Those photos are by Amanda de Cadenet....;) I don't really think that's bluedolphin? Or maybe I'm wrong, but the images look like they're shots, rather than scans, of some Vogue pages.

Wow, you actually photographed that? That is amazing!! :woot:
He meant that he took the pictures of the pages using a camera I think ;)

Uchina - In addition to what amphrosyne mentioned, I also wonder if Asian designers would be criticized for using Asian models, just as Caucasian designers have been criticized for only using Caucasian models (e.g. FW06 Ad Campaigns thread) -- so I guess it's not only a matter of just being "cliche!" :)

I have to say that I do love the term "mixed-up" that you used in your post, though - it's kind of cute, heehee.

yes,FAITH.

Hmm good point.

My friend's Chinese daddy coined the term. Are you mixed-up as well? :D

Haha, I'm not, but I loved "mixed-up" people! :flower:  (I hope that doesn't sound too derogatory because we don't mean it that way, obviously! )
