Du Juan

Standing next to Du Juan, Olivier Bernheim the Presidnet and CEO of Raymond Weil looks like mini-me. At least she's being presented to the press by the CEO.

I am just not liking these YSL pictures at all, they just don't suit her. Especially this last one.

Thanks though Faith Akiyama

is there a way for someone to upload this onto youtube or something? it'd be much easier to translate that way :p

I'm not expert in Chinese but this is the gist of it..maybe someone with a higher calibre Chinese and do it again. Oh and I didn't learn Chinese from a Mainlander so the accents are hard for me to decipher .

Interviewer: You just finished this show. How do you feel?
Du Juan: uh..very crazy - you wouldn't know what it feels like because everyone did alot but the opening was late. It was very chaotic in the backstage to be honest.
Interviewer: (Didn't hear as Du cut her off.)
Du Juan: yes yes yes. We didn't rehearsh for this show but I think we did pretty good.
Interviewer: You are still going to have alot of shows this year right?
Du Juan: yes. Following this I still have to act (wtf? someone correct me here).
Interviewer: You've been coming here for many years now?
Du Juan: Should be the third year now.
Interviewer: You attend the fashion shows every year?
Du Juan: yes
Interviewer: You come every year (I think thats what she said) so how does that feel? First of all very tired?
Du Juan: uh...yes. Its something of a love hate relationship. I love this job as every show has a unique flavour. Furthermore all of these are a personal challenge because I have to emote different designers pieces. What I hate about this job is waiting for trying on the pieces (go sees?) and lack of sleep
Interviewer: Does each new fashion show give models a new flavour?
Du Juan: I think so. Beijings fashion show is becoming better and better. A lot of the designers are entering. This is a good opportunity for us.
Interviewer: Its [going] to be 2006. Do you have any plans for yourself?
Du Juan: In 2006 I will continue working hard in my job. And I also hope more people would notice the modeling career.
Interviwer: Okay.

Okay that was taxing .. someone should correct my mistakes as I'm sure I have alot of them..:flower:

^ heloooooo!! my friend.
i know u every movement
lol.gif

Sorry! im not an expert in Chinese too.
She seems so cool.

thanx amphrosyne! i started my version of it earlier but am now motivated to finish it off after seeing yours. =)
the dialogue is pretty lighthearted & casual

Interviewer: What are your thoughts after having walked the Qi Gang runway?
Du Juan: This show was crazy, you can't imagine what it was like... actually, everyone did a lot of preparation beforehand, but since the show started a little late and backstage was a bit chaotic... [interrupted]
I: [undecipherable gibberish]
DJ: Yeah... for this show we didn't really practice, but I think the result should be pretty good...
I: Following this year's Fashion Week you'll still be busy?
DJ: Um.. yeah, there'll still be some shows...
I: well Du Juan, we are very familiar with you already, you've participated in this Fashion Week for how many years now?
DJ: Third year I think...
I: You've been in it every year?
DJ: Right.
I: If you could describe it in one word, what would it be? ..."tiresome"?
DJ: Right. Both love it and hate it, I guess... love, because I love this job, every show's style is different, and for myself it is quite a big challenge because you have to interpret every designer's vision... hate, because of the repetition day after day and getting no sleep.
I: Does it bring anything in return for the models?
DJ: Yes, I think Beijing Fashion Week is getting better and better, and now there are some international brands participating in Beijing Fashion Week, so for us it's a very good opportunity.
I: well Du Juan, it's almost 2006, any plans or personal goals for the upcoming year?
DJ: Um, in 06 I'll still try hard to do my job well, and also wish that people could pay more attention to our modeling industry.

amphy and ecec -- many, many thanks for the translation! And amphy...you're Chinese???!:woot:

Faith, love this latest YSL ad you posted in #1184 ! I like it better than the previous.

Du is working this upcoming fall/winter ad season like a madwoman! Love it!

I'm Chinese, I think bluedolphin, ecec, and ericyoung are all Chinese as well (Correct me if I'm wrong!)

From Models.com today:

Beauty is one thing but to move in the spirit of elegance, whether on camera or on the runway is a blessed ideal in a model. As early as October 2005, power editor Carine Roitfeld called it when she annointed the 19 year old Chinese beauty Du Juan with fashion stardom by placing her on Paris Vogue’s cover alongside Gemma Ward.. That piece of fashion forecasting found its campaign justification when this uncommonly beautiful new model emerged from the very selective booking frenzy of the FW 06 season with a rare triple booking. Du Juan scored slots in the Yves St Laurent and Roberto Cavalli campaigns, as well as the Louis Vuitton. , a feat all the more impressive, given how unwelcoming the FW 06 campaigns has been to new faces.

The child of architect parents, Du Juan proves that elegance is indeed the ultimate sell in modeling, right this minute. The quiet and composed alumni of the Shanghai Dance School revealed a poetic spirit to match her stunning face as she shared with OTM her thoughts on the question of her aborted dancing career ” I grew too tall…That is in fact how I got into modeling. I was dancing at the Shanghai Dance School but then I got too tall and it was very difficult to find a suitable partner for me and people suggested I try modeling. Dance will always be my first love and I still dance when I am alone in my apartment for hours and hours.”

But makes no mistake, this girl of the minute instinctively understands her part in the machine of a fashion shoot . “I love and enjoy the creative spirit and team work around the business - the appreciation of all these great images I see…the great shows that are a collaborative effort with so many people who are so passionate and dedicated involved. It gives me a buzz to be part of that and it is very inspiring to be around that.” Expect our beloved Du Juan to be a girl most wanted come the September show season. Stay tuned.
