Du Juan

^Well, aparentlly none of them were "discovered" at the age of 14--17 like most of other Russians, Brazilians, Canadian or British or whatever.
Normally "modeling contests" are break points for them, which, as a matter of fact, aren't alway fair play. Most of them had to struggle until 20 yo or even older before real chances came knocking on their doors.

(i hope this makes sense, for quite a long time, Chinese modeling industry has been nothing but desperate IMO.)

Well a lot the Chinese in China don't want their daughters to stop basic education and leave home at 14 to become a model in Milan or Paris. This is just the way of the Chinese culture. What I find with Du Juan and Mo Wandan is that they're the same age as the top early 20s models, but they seem to be smarter, and modeling is modeling, either clothes Made in China or couture in Dior. It's the modeling skills and attitude that makes the clothes look good. Looking at Mo Wandan at Dior you couldn't tell that ravishing creature was modeling the ugliest clothes before, but she has the poise, grace, and the looks.

Also, it's been said before but it's the whole China rising Superpower consciousness that makes the fashion world to use Asian models now.

Movie Last Updated Thursday 18th January 2007
Created from footage captured during a marathon shoot for the September 2006 issue of Paris Vogue, Craig McDean's film '48 Girls' features forty-eight motion portraits of the most important models working today. From the ones you know of old -Karen Elson, Jessica Stam, Shalom and Gemma Ward- to the ones who only recently made your acquaintance -Du Juan, Solange or Irina Lazareanu- each sitting is captured from McDean’s perspective, providing a revealing account of the various ways a model interacts with their photographer.

Does she have no campaigns this season? What a shame. I hope she does even better on the runway this season though.

^I know! That sucks! Let's hope for the coming rtw season.

I love the head shot, but the body one doesn't show her off too well :o

I hope Du Juan makes an appearance, even if a brief one, in the fashion community again. Certainly hope she isn't just another one season wonder.
:/

I'll see if I can find out where she has been :flower: I think it's possible that she decided to lay low in China for a while...but hopefully the shows'll jumpstart her again!

^OK Cause I saw some Miu Miu ads with an oriental model and I thought it looked like Du, but then I wasn't sure.

^humm,i know what MiuMiu ads you're talking bout.
But actually none of the girls are models, they're all actresses. :)
