Elizabeth and James : by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Still wondering where this line will be sold... hopefully someone online will have it as well as some stores.

Also werent they supposed to making an adult for Walmart too?

it allll comes from China. i dont care what the label says. as long as 1 stitch or button is put on a garment in italy, they can put made in italy.. even tho it was prob made in the dominican republic. so dont knock on china too much LOL cause ur probably wearing something made there and u dont even know it

Although this is true, there are regulations on how much has to be done in italy to legally have the tag say 'made in italy'. I dont know exactely what the regulations are but they cant just put the buttons on and do the rest in china.

I think talking about diffusion lines is essentially pointless. Anyone who is truly into fashion knows not to strike any brand off the list, there may always be something to offer. Who cares? buy something you like. end of.

my main concern with elizabeth and james specifically is there seems to be a huge markup on these items. the garments are made by the same company as La rok. La rok items are a lot cheaper. therefore i am suspicious.

there will not be an adult line for walmart. the olsen twins have no hand in designing any of the walmart clothing. it is licensed out to another company.

elizabeth and james will be sold at a few intermix stores apparently. and probably at intermix's website.

when was there a teen vogue article?

it's in the september issue with anne hathaway on the cover...

lucy...this stuff is defintely more expensive than i thought...
the sequined dress is $495 and the fur coat is $795!
and $275 for a pair of jeans is ridiculous...
earnest sewn and other designers use premium ringspun japanese denim, and their jeans are $150-$200...

Wow, I was really hoping to get my hands on the sequined dress too. I was hoping it was no more than $250. It seems like these prices are even higher than the Row, wasn't it supposed to be a less expensive sportswear line? What happened to that idea! But aside from the price, I think I'm really proud of the girls because after looking at their peers lines (the Millers' twenty8twelve), what the Olsens are putting out is really impressive.

Hey
Does anyone know where we can be buying this range on the internet i have checked the neiman, bergdorf and intermix site and none of them even mention it???????

I think the twins may be out of touch with reality regarding what's actually considered affordable. They spend thousands on couture so I guess by their standard $500 for a dress is small change.

miu miu and prada are different brands, but even with the house's experience, quality, bla,bla,bla... i still think it damaged what, to that point, i thought of prada
ever since, i jsut see miu miu as a watered down version of the creative process behind prada, that produces daring-it-bags and shoes with very similar prize tags.

Miuccia Prada said that Miu Miu is meant for a younger woman's sense of style

I agree, which leads me to yet again question Ashley's quote from this WWD article: "...Elizabeth and James is intended for a woman who wants a designer garment but cannot afford it."

If a woman cannot afford a designer garment, how does she think they could find the money to pay for a pair of $275 jeans?

Holla!!

I really, REALLY like that sequin dress. It's not super original but hey any variant works with me :)

wait. I don't get it - whats the difference between this and "The Row"?

It doesn't look the same at all...it's a different concept I think. The row is supposed to be a high end basics line that's very minimal. It doesn't produce a lot and has good production values...I don't know about E&J but it doesn't seem to be a pet product, more of a commercial line even though it's higher price than a lot of commercial lines.
