Benn you'll be happy to know that this is the best selling issue of the last 10 years for the magazine ! They already sold 3 million copies in 1 week (this includes the subscriptions). The monthly average for Elle France in 2017 was 313 525 copies.

You're joking!! This is tremendous news! I knew it would sell well because she appeals to a lot of women, but 3milllion across all mediums? Never expected that. And people say print is dead. It's when you factor it in that Elle France is a weekly magazine that you realise how amazing this is.

Newsstand sales aside, I think the cult of Brigitte Macron, if it wasn't evident before, has just begun.

Thanks for the update, Sixt!! :pink:

Elle Portugal September 2017: Miranda Kerr by Greg Kadel
This shoot is exclusively LV and has been making the rounds in various magazines. Before ELLE Portugal picked it up for September it's already been in Madame Figaro Japan months ago, NZ Fashion Quarterly, Red's september cover, HIA Saudia Arabia's cover and it's also currently MC Indonesia's cover story.

It is not actually 3 Millions.
They sold 530 000 issues but her interview and the social media buzz generated was around 30 millions views or something like that.

Still, this is their biggest seller in 10 years.

Brigitte is actually very popular. Even if we don't like this idea, we are still very bourgeois in that aspect. Since Bernadette Chirac in 2007, we never really had a proper first lady.

Cecilia, Carla and Valerie weren't really taken seriously. People loves Brigitte more than her husband actually. She is very french, quite discreet...Even her fashion choices are not as criticized as i would expect (wearing only High Fashion).

Ha thanks for the update Lola ! I knew these figures were too good to be true. But I'm surprised the French Elle CEO and team communicated on the 3 million figures if it's fake?!

The 3 milion figures are actually related to twitter. It generates a lot of feed on twitter or something like that.
It's huge for Elle as nobody has ever generated this kind of number in this social media age.

I'm happy that they're getting that much likes. Elle for me is an easy yet interesting magazine in France. And they're not ones to shy away from older women, probably most their readers are Brigitte's age. It says a lot about how the French must view Brigitte.

The husband may be another story. Just yesterday I read that his approval ratings are slipping, and that he's spending an inordinate amount on a make-up artist. God knows why because I certainly can't pinpoint to anything noteworthy.

Can't decide where I stand in regards to the school teacher. I find her style very monotonous. Yes, it's HF brands, but it's pretty much the same silhouette. I don't know much about her personality, her views. The Elle interview gave somewhat of an idea, but not enough. I did like Valérie Trierweiler, she was an odd, independent and intelligent woman. Perhaps more intelligent than her husband. And the vengeful tell-all made me like her even more. Why the French never warmed to her, I don't know. Never much cared for Carla, especially not when they've neutered her into a Stepford wife. Plus, her style set a pretext for Queen Letitzia, Duchess Catherine, Melania Trump. Basically nice and inoffensive, but so dull.
I will say this - Brigitte is a very strategic woman. That interview was very revealing and it was clever of her to go for Elle and not Vogue. With the vote of the older women she'll get away with wearing couture!

Yes, ELLE has a very different and yet interesting place in France. I will say that their readers must be around 30 years old and above. For a lot of french women, ELLE was the first introduction to style or magazines...
I remember, when i was younger i was really into 20ans and other magazines like that but ELLE was my mother's go to magazine. Vogue was really seen as very bourgeois, uptight and disconnected. People who grew up in the 90s or 80s don't have the same cult for Vogue here than in the US for example.

What is more interesting about VP is that it had a lot of ELLE's touch when Carine came up. Emmanuelle and her used to work at ELLE and it shows...Even more today.

I'm in my 30's and ELLE is the magazine i'm the most faithful to. It's like an institution. Even the fashion stories are good. Nothing pretentious, good styling and it works.

People love Brigitte because she is intelligent, she is decisive and not pretentious. She seems very simple. And don't forget that, age difference put aside, her couple is the most traditional one we had in a longtime. Hollande had girlfriends and Sarkozy divorced and got remarried in the most surrealistic way.

People didn't like Valerie. They were touched by the way Hollande treated her but they didn't like the book. We are still a bit bourgeois and don't like the idea of exposing your dirty laundry to the world...And also, she did something against Segolene Royal during a campaign and people still loves Segolene.

About Macron...His rating are slipping because he is finally taking decisions. Nobody can be popular when taking social decisions..But you know it was a very hard election and the people who are complaining are the ones who didn't vote for him in the first round.

It's actually a stunning cover considering she's been on so many over the past month or so. I'd change nothing about it. Actually I'd trim more of the bottom part of the cover so that we just see the knitwear and not the backdrop space.

Odd that her work for Elle and HB always look much better than that of the Vogue....

Since Elle Australia did a 'mix and match' cover last July with Gemma Ward three other editions of Elle have produced near identical versions with local models. Magazines share shoots and concepts all the time, but i found this an interesting example of how the international editions of Elle borrow and interpret ideas from each other, especially since Elle Australia is quite a small magazine to begin with.

Elle Australia: Gemma Ward
Elle Hungary: Barbara Palvin
Elle Serbia: Maja Radaković Stanišić
Elle China: Jing Wen
