Great that they did this. But why such an old pic?

I think these pictures of YSL w/Laeticia are so popular because they were taken at his final couture show.

Thank you for the thread Diorette:heart::flower:

His last couture show was in 2002.This one is from 1998.Anyway, so far I've been really disappointed with the magazines's tribute to Yves Saint Laurent.I expected something more elaborated or grandiose in homage to a genius like him.

Thank you for the corrected info nanker_phledge :flower:

I expect we'll see more elaborate homages in the weeks & months to come. The magazines such as Elle France & Paris Match were put together quite quickly to get out to the kiosk ASAP.

I certainly hope Vogue Paris does something wonderful...because what they've featured on their website over he past few days website has been minimal at best.

YSL left on monday (sunday-monday night - ?) and i'm not sure it's easy to add, for instance in Match, 42p. more to print and change everything....
i guess they have a 2 days for correcting-printing-sending etc.
everything had to go very fast.... But they did a pretty good portfolio...

Elle had more days... hope it's gonna be great...
and it's a fashion magazine !!!!

and guys i want some texts... TRUE FASHION texts !
(quotes are getting tiring....)

But why such an old pic?
YSL left public scene in 2002...
he was very old... sad and lonely...after
so old picture is easiest....
and they always chose good ones...
i like Le Monde's choice : he was serious - qtrong - lonely.... as i imagine him....

Well, I've never been disappointed by Paris Match's content no matter how short notice the issue they had to make was. Both issues barely have any images of the world cup show for instance, or interviews with other people than Pierre Bergé and Catherine Deneuve.Even John Kennedy junior 's death issue was better than that.Elle could have put their issue on Monday and do something better.I was REALLY disappointed by the half ***ed issue they put up for him, you know the usual 'he celebrated woman' blablabla.I really can't believe that the two magazines which could have done a lot better managed to **** up an homage like this one.I guess they chose a picture with Laetitia Casta because people can identify them with a recent generation rather than a very old one, besides they have a certain liking for her at "Elle".I don't care what it could have cost them, dedicate two pages to announce his death the week following his death and then dedicate a bigger issue to him when appropriate.God knows, but frankly, it looks like a homage to someone like Vadim to be frank not Yves Saint Laurent. Both magazines really ****ed up on that one, I'm sorry.

I couldn't agree more,I was expecting so much more from them. They could have done something really interesting to celebrate him but failed...As usual recently

thank you diorette..
the scan of the transparent blouse is particularly haunting.. the construction, the styling.. everything about it is beautiful.. even Esther looks beautiful (she always frightened me even though I liked her.).
Also loved the old pictures with her mother..
