Please can someone explain what Eurotrash means and what style of clothes Eurotrash people wear ? I allways thought of it of it as being gold digger style classic Chanel and Valentino suits but with big blonde hair lots of make up and too much clevage ? X

1. Eurotrash l (oxi-moron) One whose effortlessly impeccable style, tasteful understated elegance, and continent-hopping savoire vivre, is manifested in one's daily presentation---including, but not limited to: choice of words (few and articulate; loudness only permitted for Italians...from Italy, not Jersey); multilingual accent (reflecting upbringing by French nanny, German-Swiss headmaster at boarding school in St. Moritz, and a touch of "ivy-league American" from countless summers at parent's Easthampton residence and study period at Brown);choice of clothing (at least 3 pieces orchestrated in natural fabrics of varying textures and varying coordinated colours--but not varying quality--only the finest, bien sur); places frequented (ultra-modern Ian Schrager hang-outs, gourmet shops, 'historical districts', museum cafes, etc.; not Starbucks; never shopping malls); lack of familiarity with cheap, disposable pop-culture ('Britney who?'); and of course, a command of the "I-don't-know-what": loafers without socks; cigarette smoked like '40's film star; collars on polo shirts turned upwards; selects unadvertised fragrances; almost entirely void of visible logos (exceptions:family crest or personal monogram; crocodile, polo player, and "G")employs the 'kiss on either cheek' greeting. The word Eurotrash should only be used on the west side of 'the pond' and in relation to the bland, Puritan, mass-marketed,shrink-wrapped, petit-bourgeois style rampant in America.

#1: Gate of arriving flight from Paris; #2: Passangers aboard the 'Hampton-Jitney' line to the Hamptons.

Eurotrash is basically Dolce & Gabbana just more glossy. Utterly tasteless and completely self-indulgent fluff.

Euro trash is epitomized by areas around Italy like Lido. People whoreing themselves to big names but in the most hideous way. It is more easily seen on guys in the form of over zealous branding generally in shinny gold lettering with awe inspiring phrases like "who the F*ck is D&G". Sorry i like Dolce and Gabbana but there is too much D&G around.

This look is by far the worst on men...in Holland anyway. This look is very prevalent among famous Dutch men. (Dutch women in general don't care much about fashion and when they do,it's the footballer's wife style that is most prevalent.A gross generalisation...should be taken to be just that...a generalisation to which there may be exceptions).

With shiny gold, white linen, loafers without socks for men,men in pink shirts or pastel polo shirts, men with overly coiffed blonde hair (like Andrea Casirhagi),men with too much tan (real or fake)...:yuk:

This look is most prevalent in Long Island, NY men... D&G, flashy Roberto Jeans, thick gold chains, big Dior sunglasses, and over-gelled hair. These are guys who are great at faking rich and girls sadly fall for it.

i thought eurotrash has been replaced with Chav Culture no??? anyway as far as i know eurotrash is certainly not a trend -at least NOT in europe..
Let us know if eurotrash is a trend in your area.. cause i suspect we should be moving this thread to tFS personal style section

btw what could be more eurotrash than Sienna , VB or Donatella?

Eurotrash is far more glossy than chav! Eurotrash is the real thing, ostentatious designer wear... Chavs are much more casual and down-market. Think fake logowear.

do you find this a trend tott?
or is it more of a personal style issue?

More a personal style issue, Lena! Or lack of style, depending on how you look at it. :p

My mom and I are a bit Eurotrash and somewhat proud of it. We just wish that the word "trash" would be replaced with "chic"

I would say that most pieces from Versace, D&G and Valentino would be "Eurotrash style"

I've worn this exact ensemble that Madonna is wearing in this ad.

I saw a lot of Eurotrash style in Greece, Italy and South of France.

I don't think it's a bad thing. It's just the name that sounds bad.

Chavs wear fake Burberry, Louis Vuitton purses, and BabyPhat. In North America we would call the style ghetto, no?

You know, I think the term "eurotrash" might come from stiff americans who were both attracted and put off by the unabashed display of luxury...

It is very hard to pull it off well, but kudos to you if you do!

I think its easier for Arab women to pull it off. My mom is from Kuwait and I have to say that big hair, big jewelry, big labels and evident make up is the normal trend among Kuwaiti women.

I also find that Sophia Loren, Bianca Jagger, Ivana Trump and Jerry Hall have a Eurotash style.
