Evangeline Lilly Needs To Get over Herself

If you've ever encountered a teenaged girl who is obviously becoming a stunningly gorgeous young woman, say, on the bus, you can understand what women like Mischa Barton and Angelina Jolie are talking about in the article posted above. They're definitely aware of their beauty, but they seem unnerved by it as well. Beauty is a form of power, and if you've got it in spades, it makes sense to downplay its importance, at least until you learn to work its magic a little better.

That said, I agree the lady lily doth protest too much...

Haha, what an idiot. I see unattractive girls getting leered at ALL the time. Does she really think it makes such a difference?

She's really nothing amazing either. I see more beautiful girls in the street all the time.

I'll grant her her wish- I think she's pretty ugly. Honestly, who actually says stuff like this? Even if it is true, to repeat it means you agree you are really pretty. ugh, that's so bigheaded.

I find it really odd that Lilly would say that. I mean, she's not ugly, but she's definitely not stunningly pretty either...

For someone who has humanitarian tacked onto their resume (possibly by a canny publicist), you would think she'd realise that some people have far worse problems in life to deal with.

I think the quote has been taken out of context a little here...

^^but it's nice to see how mature some people here are

"Sirene" I  your avator!!! I love Naomi Watts!! What a great actress!!!^_^

Yeah I think her words were probably tweaked a bit and taken out of context, maybe she was saying about how stupid she was when she was younger to think things like that and the mag just left some of it out (not unusual). Anything I've ever seen her in (interviews etc) she seems really sweet and humble. Things always look different on paper to the way they were actually said.

that sucks. not sure if its true, but if it is-- im really dissapointed. i love lost.

I think she's really beautiful--on the cover of Elle at least. She grew up on morals, and being attractive wasn't of importance to her. She was a tomboy and when she was 16, she got a different kind of attention from the boys. She got called a wh*re for not wanting to get in bed because the boys would make up stuff about what they did with her. So she connected being attractive to feeling like she was a wh*re.

But that's how she felt when she was 16. She got over it. Right now she's focused on Humanitarianism. It's not like she's a perfectly good person, but she's not an awful person.

And many people can have issues that sound petty to others. Like when someone talks about how crappy their car is--at least you don't have to take the bus! Many people are guilty of that sort of thing. I know I am.

Jeez are you her spokesperson?:innocent:

I don't find her pretty at all. Just average to me - nothing stunning.

For some reason, upcoming actresses always sound stuckup in Elle's articles...

I was hoping that quote wasn't true until I read the actual Elle article.
I think she sounded quite ridiculous through the whole thing really,
I don't really understand her hype

She probably just said something about how she got perved on when she was younger and it got taken out of context.

Still, kinda funny quote though

AS someone said, it was probably out of context. Don't be SO easy on judging people. She just doesn't seem like someone who's so full of herself. I can't imagine her being a total stuck up, arrogant brat. She's probably a very sensitive person or something. My god, she said something silly, but this bashing is unnecessary. She didnt kill anyone, stole someones husband or posed naked in playboy.
