Eye makeup

Here is just a little something I did on my friend.. I have been studying makeup artistry for the past 5 months :) Feedback appreciated

Photography and Makeup by me :)

^ Thank you :) I'm only 17 and just started studying makeup artistry... There is still alot to learn

^ Absolutely... it's like painting...

What books have you studied? Are you taking formal classes? That gray is gorgeous. Perhaps you could steer me in the right direction as to what I should be wearing... I always have a hard time with my lighter skin tone and freckles and strawberry blonde hair...

i'm so bored with my eye make up at the moment, nothing seems to look right so maybe some of you have tips for me?

basically i like smokey looks, that don't weigh your eyes down too much though. i still wanna look awake and "fresh" if that makes any sense. but i'm too addicted to eyeliner to go without some  any suggestions as to what looks would be good?

:flower:

Erin, it really depends what undertone your skin is. If its Yellow (olive) you suit warmer colours... If you have a pink undertone (Skin that is usually naturally pale and reddened) you suit cool colours... Both yellow and pink skins can be pale.. But with makeup there are really no rules these days its's really what works for you.

In regards to good makeup books I would recommend the Kevyn Aucoin books they are great.. But remember books can only help you achieve your personal style of make up, if you only follow books you will never get the best result. Put your personality into it :) and remember you have to keep practicing putting on makeup to get a really stead hand

If you dont like the whole impact of smoky eyes why don't you try doing your basic eyeliner and smudge it a little to give it that smoky look :) remember to set it with some black eye shadow (or it wont stay in place for a long time)

Lately I've been trying to recreate this type of eye make-up:

But the "wing" always ends up looking awful. I've been using Laura Mercier eyeliner with this brush, would it be easier if I got a different kind of eyeliner? Tips please! :(

Gel liner is wonderful for that type of thing. Also put little dots where you want the wing to end, middle of your lid where it'll be the thickest, and the inside corner. Then connect the dots with a thin line. Then color it in.

how can i prevent eyeliner from smudging and staining my lid? i have hooded eyes and it seems that even when i but eyeshadow over the line on my upper lid, it still ends up staining my eyelid :/

^ line your eye with the liner, then get a black eye shadow (if the liner is black ofcourse) and apply over the eyeliner. That will make it set :flower:

^Well, she did say that it stains even when she puts powder on top of the liner.

But maybe try some waterproof liquid/gel liner and then press eyeshadow over the top? I find that waterproof liners are the best

Does eye shape make cat eyeliner on some eyes impossible? I have hooded lids, so you can't really see my eyelids when I have my eyes open, and I really want to create that look but I end up looking like I have a couple of flicks but nothing else. It's so annoying!
