THE MANY FACES OF CALVIN: After only one season as the face of Calvin Klein Collection, Toni Garrn has been replaced by Suvi, in a decidedly more edgy campaign than seasons past. Shot once again by Fabien Baron and styled by Camilla Nickerson and Karl Templer, the images, which also include model Blaine Cook, are simple and minimal but also more structural. "The clothes are characterized by sharp, angular lines with a real emphasis at the waist, torso, and legs," said Francisco Costa, creative director of Calvin Klein Collection for women. "We thought that Suvi was the perfect choice to bring that to life in this very graphic campaign. She's so current and versatile in her look and expression. She really exudes a certain strength that echoes the overall look of the season."
Meanwhile, the new Calvin Klein Jeans campaign will look vaguely familiar to some, as it provides an updated take on the CK One campaign from the Nineties. Steven Meisel was the man originally behind CK One and he also captured the new Jeans campaign, featuring 17 up-and-coming faces such as Ali Stephens. Stephens and company replace Kate Bosworth.
Calvin Klein white label is sticking with its proven formula of Doutzen, Gabriel Aubry and Mikael Jansson. Ck Calvin Klein has Lara Stone, who appeared in last season's beauty campaign, and Lenz Von Johnston. And for the first time in several years, the company is launching separate men's and women's campaigns for Calvin Klein Underwear during the same season. As previously reported, Eva Mendes has been shot and model Garrett Neff will appear in images supporting the Calvin Klein Body product line. Neff, photographed by Bruce Weber in Miami, is the 10th male model to appear in an underwear campaign (the last campaign featured actor Djimon Hounsou). Incidentally, Weber shot Calvin Klein's first underwear campaign more than 25 years ago, with U.S. Olympic pole vaulter Tom Hintnaus.
From August to December, 354 ad pages from Calvin Klein will run in 44 titles including Vogue, Elle, Men's Health, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan. The launch of its fragrance ads with Mendes will begin running in October in In Style, Real Simple, Elle and Cookie, a new magazine for the brand.
