and i don't think one can underestimate the effect that world politics has had on the system...and the world at large...
starting with 9/11 and everything that has gone on since then...
after 9/11- it was supposed to be "business as usual"...
which was a pretty big mistake, imho...
and the fact that we have had massive natural disasters on a fairly regular basis- much more than usual, is nerve-wracking...
it makes an 'it' bag seem really inconsequential, no?
*not that it wasn't always inconsequential...
