Fave character from a book

mine...
Jean-Baptiste Grenouille- Perfume: A Story of Murder
April Wheeler- Revolutionary Road
Gollum- Lord of the Rings
Holden Caufield- Catcher in the Rye

Darl - As I Lay Dying
Hareton - Wuthering Heights
Phoebe Caulfield - The Catcher in the Rye
Ondine - How to Stop Time: Heroin from A to Z.

Hareton is a most interesting choice ;) He certainly is a character who gives you hope.

^True. There's not a lot of them in Wuthering Heights.

Mine are:

Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights
Rebecca Sharp from Vanity Fair
Grady McNeil from Summer Crossing
Alex from A Clockwork Orange
Rosalind from As You Like It
Robbie Turner from Atonement
Estelle from Huis Clos
Meursault from L'Étranger
Henry Crawford from Mansfield Park
Faramir from The Lord Of The Rings
Lord Henry Wotton from The Picture Of Dorian Gray
Marquise Isabelle De Merteuil from Les Liaisons Dangereuses

I really like the evil characters. Nice ones just bore me to death, mostly.

^ haha I can tell you like evil characters. Alex from A Clockwork Orange  You'd like Count Fosco from The Woman in White then. I really need to read The Picture Of Dorian Gray

- DI John Rebus and Siobhan Clarke (Ian Rankin's crime novels)
- Smoky Barret (Cody McFadyen's crime novels)
- Effi Briest (Effi Briest)
- Anna Karenina (Anna Karenina)
- Ms. Sartoris (Frau Sartoris)
- Bella Swan (Twilight series) :ninja:

Zooey Glass (Franny and Zooey)
David Martin (The Angel's Game)
Aibileen (The Help) In fact I loved mostly every character in the book
Ellen Olenska (The Age of Innocence)
Dorian Gray (The Picture of Dorian Gray)

Tie for Cheshire Cat and Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. I've always loved those two characters. I've always enjoyed reading the story.

So inspiring and fun.

I've dressed up as those two quite a few times during halloween during my life, as well as other characters. The story alone is amazing but those two characters have helped form me than anything else.

Pam (& Eric) - Southern Vampire Series - Charlaine Harris
Elizabeth - Pride and the Prejudice - Jane Austen
Holden Caufield - Catcher in the Rye - J. D. Salinger
Bonnie McCullough - Vampire Diaries - L. J. Smith
Jessie Fitzgerald - My Sisters Keeper - Jodi Picoult
Noah - The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks
Luna & Neville (& the Weasley family) - The Harry Potter Series - J. K. Rowling

Great thread idea!

Goodies:
JEEVES, Bertie Wooster and Lord Emsworth
(from the Jeeves books and Blandings Castle books by P.G. Wodehouse)
Claudine (from the Claudine books by Colette)
Mélisande~Pelleas et Mélisande (Maeterlinck)

Baddies
Salome~Salome (Oscar Wilde)
the cruel twins in Blood of the Walsungs (Thomas Mann)

It looks like Caulfield is quite popular in this thread...Salinger is one of my favorite authors ever, but prefer characters from his short stories

Scarlett O'Hara. Of course she had some flaws and she was quite selfish, but in the same time she was also strong and self-willed lady. And I have quite similar personality as Scarlett in fact

SCARLETT O´HARA and RHET BUTLER from Gone with the wind. I just love those two! there are more but they might be just over the top.

Yes, I really like Francie too. And from Beatrix Potter, Pigling Bland ...

good thread! :)

Gandalf - I love that he is cranky and kind and old and extremely powerful.
Hannibal Lecter - amazing character, instant classic.
Elisabeth Bennett.
Mr Rochester - great vibrant personality.

Almost great:

Jonathan Strange - He is cheerful and happy-go-lucky and then gets pushed to the edge and then he brings it.
Edward Cullen :ninja: - I like the snarkiness and cleverness and intensity and desire to do the right thing.
