Deadstock is vintage that was never sold, often in its original packaging or in this case, tags still on. There's another term for it too ... old stock I think??? It's eluding me at the moment ...

I don't think I knew about "chav" before tFS ...

I think the meaning of deadstock is as described above - I think the post was describing some never worn jeans from the 70s.

You know, I actually remember the 70s. And every so often when I go into a store and see stuff that looks a LOT like things from then or the 1980s I now say to myself...

"Self, hmmmm.... there is a giant warehouse somewhere in which a secret coalition of clothing sellers stores *deadstock* for 20 years and then hauls it out to try it again on an unsuspecting public that failed to purchase it in sufficient quantity to deplete the storage bin last time."

EDITED TO ADD: Found a definition of deadstock:
Old store item that is unused and never sold. Sometimes refered to as NOS (never of shelf). Often come with original packaging, tags, etc.. These items may further be called "new old stock". Unused.
