What is the obsession of the fashion world with black models with no hair? You never see bald white models on the runway. Don't get me wrong, a lot of the bald, black models are quite striking. It just seems to me that the fashion world won't embrace a softer, more feminie aesthetic for black models. Either they have no hair or if they do have hair it is styled to be wild and unkempt. I would like to see softer more refined images of black women to balance out the androgynous look that seems to be more prevalent.

^^I've seen more androgynous white models with hair more so then black models with "no hair" as you put it. Do you feel the majority of the black models on this forum are androgynous? Personally, I don't think so. And on another point, why is the fashion world obsessed with Caucasian models with with eyes looking like a deer caught in a headlight? If their is an obsession with "no hair" models it ain't the majority thats for sure. I guess for every black model you see its like seeing 100 Caucasian models for some people. They think its too much.

On another point, the fashion industry is and probably will always biased toward European/Caucasian models. You might think on the catwalk you find the most diverse women. That arguable. But when it comes to the "big contracts" in the business, Caucasians always have the throne. Personally, most of the black models with some notoriety deserve to have the big contracts with companies selling beauty products. I've yet to see the fashion world "obsessed" with short haired black models (or many black models in general) in this area.

crow hair I agree with you. I should have clarified that I'm referring specifically to preferences of designers regarding black models--not their overall preference for models in the industry which is obviously very caucasion. Why is it that recently when designer choose to use black models they seem to favor the black models with no hair who appear more androgynous? I don't recall seeing any bald white models on the runway since Eve Salvail (Sp?) back in the nineties grunge era.

^^ I'm not too sure about that. But I can see how it appears that might be the case this season. In reality, go figure these designers. Maybe its what they see as "In style"

Your post makes no sense to me. Most of the models posted here actually have long stright/slightly wavy hair. Mimi, Jaunel etc. in fact, I think the reason why white models arn't bald is because they most of them don't look good bald! Black models are more versatile in hairstyle.

I see what you mean but I think there is pretty much an even number of black models with short hair and black models with longer hair. I definately see the trend that you're talking about. I think it's simply a trend just like the "gemma" there's the "Alek" models. I don't care for that because there can only be one Alek and one Gemma and I don't understand the reasoning behind a bunch of models that look alike.

Chrishell Stubbs is one strikingly beautiful young woman. Really...she's too pretty. If this is not a cover shot for any fashion magazine I dont know what is.
Simplylovely, you did good with this post.
