Favourite Top African and Black Models

Simply Lovely thanks for keeping this thread afloat...LOL. I love all the men you posted, simply beautiful. Im sick of seeing Caucasian men on the runway, why cant OUR men do the same? We are just as handsome, if not more!

Well, I wish Black Models would get recognized the same as women models. But I have to say its alot harder for ANY male model to gain as much success as most women models gain. But I've posted many recent male models who have been recognized and are now successful well-known models(Richard Fuller,Gibril,Didier Zonga, very talent - Armando Cabral ect.). Not to mention a few (by the number of black models I posted they should be alot more of them being well-known in the fashion world) African/African American women on the runways and in ad campaigns (Kinee Douf, Ajuma N., Honorine U., Mimi Roche, Chanel Iman, Atong, Quiana Grant,Alek & Naomi still doing their thing on the runway, Yasmine W., Liya Kebede, Oluchi etc.) So I'm still proud to see the few chosen out their representing us.

Can't forget Sessilee Lopez, Emanuela de Paula, Davina Mulimbi & Jaunel Mckenzie!

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Damaris Lewis, Jotasha Turnbull, Sigail Currie, Wakeema Hollis, Jordan Richardson, Nicol Britt.......Newbie Jourdan Dunn on the runways for top high fashion designers. We'll see how that works out. I just posted a thread for model Ayan Elmi, I hope to see alot more of her too!

Its so sad that NONE of these women will ever get any shine in the Couture world. The world is only ready for ONE BLACK woman at the time, and i guess it's Chanel's turn now.

It's sad that Chanel is really the only black girl out there right now. She's half Asian, and I honestly don't see the appeal at all. I think there are many more attractive black, African and African-American models out there that could be better representatives.

I think that black men are better represented though. Thanks for the pics simplylovely, a lot of those guys are HOT!

I love Chanel, but truth be told, that is one of the BIG reasons she is out there. If Chanel wasn't half Asian, she wouldnt look as GLOBAL, and she wouldnt be as big!

I don't think her being half asian has too much to do with it. I see her look as being more unique (sort of like Alek Wek or Liya & Naomi, Mimi & Ajuma.....Grace Jones of her time). She is just the new, young "fresh" face right now. I don't have a problem with that at all! Its funny how tough critiques can be with mostly every new ethnic model in the fashion world. I was shocked to read the rude things people had to say about Chanel in her own thread. I on the other hand am just glad to see ANY woman of color representing (despite them being mixed).

I don't think she's unique at all. And I don't think people are being rude, we just don't like her look! And I'm sorry, she doesn't even compare to the incomparable Alek Wek, Liya Kebede, Naomi Campbell, and especially not Grace Jones!!

^Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. I seriously think race is a factor; Her look is not bad, not great thats for certain, but you can't deny that she's a very pretty girl. Many white models look amost identical, same with Latinas. I don't think its fare to point out how average looking (Though I don't think she looks average at all!) this model looks and Not do the same for other models outside that race! And that comment about people not saying rude things, I suggest you go to her and Selita's thread and read some of the things people were saying. Its one thing to not be fascinated at all with a model, and another to just be mean and talk bad about their looks.

^ Well, I think many white models are plain as well. She def. fits the new mode of super-skinny models with not-so-stunning looks ala Suvi, Johanna, etc. Trust me, I don't dislike her look because of her race, I wouldn't like her if she was white, green, whatever. I just don't like that type of model period. :flower:

People not liking Selita doesn't have to do with her race! Go to the VS threads and you'll see that people think she's over-the-top and very cheesy on the runway. In fact, many people stated during the 2006 VS fashion show that Tyra should have handed her wings over to Oluchi instead of Selita because she's better for VS. Oluchi is stunning and classy whereas Selita preens and poses constantly.

Roshumba works for some TV show right? I can't remember the name, but she still looks fabulous!

Race is ALWAYS a FACTOR! This site is very open minded, so i would like to think that race has nothing to do with it, but the things people say about Chanel are just TOO MUCH and so irrelevant and uncalled for!

Have you heard what people say about Coco Rocha, Agyness, Vlada, Johanna, Suvi, Snejana, Irina (ha, you should hear what I can say about one Doutzen Kroes), etc? I love black models (Iman and Grace Jones are two of my all-time favorites), esp. dark-skinned models, but I don't necessarily like ALL of them. And maybe people say those things about Chanel and Selita because they just aren't very appealing :innocent:

 :flower:

There are models who aren't to my taste: black (ajuma, selita), white (gemma, gisele), asian (devon aoki, han hye jin), but I don't need to force my opinions on other people.

People who think their preferences are the only valid ones need to get over themselves. No one is right or wrong about who is beautiful. If you like or dislike something, why does anyone else need to agree with you?

Moving on ... more photos of lovely people, please! :D
