Favourite Top African and Black Models

from my understanding--granted limited, the fashion industry is full of lovely by ruthlessly money-hungry people. if it was more profitable to show black faces, they would.

^ Some Egyptians are black yes, but the majority of the population isn't. I'm referring to Middle Eastern women, not North African Muslims. And yes, I guess if it meant making the same amount of money they would, but why wouldn't they? It's been proven time and time again that women of different ethnicities sell just as well as any others.

I'm having a hard time finding decent photos of her, but Mercedes Scelba-Shorte who was on Top Model was so beautiful.

in many ways i agree, xmodel, but its too easy to point o the industry as racist, when looking at hte fashion spot, teh forums of black models are less attended. even liya kebede, is not nearly as popular as her white counterparts. while this site is filled with open-minded members, many seek out models who look liek themselves---which i think , is at the root of the reasonw hy darker models have difficulty getting work. i think someone like adriana would be far less popular if more peopel saw her as biracial.

Idon't necessarily thinkit's that people look for themselves in models. Take, I dunno, Cintia Dicker who is very popular even though she doesn't work much these days. Only 1% of the entire world's population has red hair, so I don't think that's really the reason. I'm white (I have red hair actually :p ) and I like darker models (I mean, even just darker hair and overall look, not just skin) because they don't look like me. I don't want to see pale people because I see that enough every day  I think it's deeper than that, I just don't understand why. Fashion champions "unusual" beauty, so it amazes me that there isn't more diversity across the board.

Found some more Grace photos:

Her and Quiana G. look alot alike!(same agency) Hope to see more of her in the future.

I agree for the most part. A lot of people do see Adriana Lima as other than white. I wouldn't call her bi racial because she's not but she's definately from a mixed heritage. I agree because there is a model named ana sofia that also does VS and I would swear that she and adriana are related because they have the exact same smile but ana sofia is darker and more ethnic looking. She is just as beautiful as adriana but she doesn't get even close to the amount of work as adriana.

Very good point. I hadn't actually thought of it that way, but now that you mention it, the popularity of redheads, relative to their percentage, indicates that it isn't 'looking like models' that makes some models more popular than others.

there is a model i want to ID am not even certain if she is a fashion model but she was in the video for Akon I wanna love you. She has blonde hair and has that karolina kurkova like megawatt smile..
They show her towards the end of the song in the background on a large screen as Akon sings in the foreground
anyone know who she is?

Thats harsh, but I know what you mean by "mutt". But there's a lot of hot exotic looking ones out there. Case in point...

<fashionmodeldirectory.com> post from simplylovely

Oh my goodness!

I don't think she's pretty.:ninja:

The trend appears to be, for the few black models appearing in high fashion, is that they be 1) African or 2) multiracial. I don't like to think about tools that divide, but I can't help but notice the shortage of black American models who aren't mutliethnic. There used to be: Beverly Johnson, Karen Alexander, Veronica Webb, etc. I guess they aren't "exotic" enough. :innocent: Which is crap.
