Favourite Top African and Black Models

Wow thanks for posting these though i have to make a clarification the third is Princess Elizabeth of Tooro not Togo. Tooro is a Kingdom in Uganda, always wondered how that cover looked

So what is Togo? You say Kingdom, would this be equivalent to a state here in America? Of course, on a smaller scale.

Was there a thread created for Martinique Mitchell yet? She was the tall, beautiful Black model to appear on the first season of Project Runway.

marlasinger, thanks for all those wonderful covers. i'm so loving the classic raw sex appeal of miss jane hoffman.

marlasinger, i just got done paying my very first visit to your blog. it is, quite simply, the sh*t. congrats on a job well done.

I posted these on my blog & thought I should share them here too :) First black cover girls for these publications

Jane Hoffman - Cosmo - June, 1969
Daphne Maxwell - Glamour - October, 1969
Princess Elizabeth of Togo - Harper's Bazaar - November, 1969
Jolie Jones - Madamoiselle - March, 1969

Love these beauties but I have to say I found that Katiti Kirondi was indeed Glamour's 1st black covergirl...she did it a year earlier than Daphne.

This is true but she wasn't a model was she? I think she was on the cover of their special "College" issue.

I'm not sure;) but she's still a black woman(in hindsight Daphne is more of an actress than a model) and the 'college' issue is still a full issue...August.

Maybe I should have clarified but I didn't include her b/c she wasn't a model and this thread is for models.

Good deal...and I said that b/c alot of people think its Daphne(the 1st black person period) and I just cleared it up.

I still can't figure out why the UK version is better than the US one...could it be they weren't afraid to showcase her so invitingly, jokes?! I mean wow, this is probably her best cover.
