Fendi F/W 2021.22 Milan

It's definitely not as bad as that dreadful "couture" debut; there are some nice pieces here and there but overall, it feels forcefully generic. This could easily pass for any random brand. I'm sure the tailoring and all is competent enough but it just doesn't cut it for me on the whole. It again begs the question; why was this appointment necessary? What exactly is he bringing to the table that a headless design team cannot do? It's like LVMH were surprised at how incredibly good Sylvia was on her own that they decided to shoot themselves in the foot with this absurd appointment as it seems they want to bring the house down to the unfortunate level of mediocrity that defines fashion at the moment.

There's not an ounce of originality. Every single look can be traced back to a collection from Jacquemus, Max Mara, Dior or even Yeezy (wtf). He has no business doing womenswear. I feel sorry for Silvia. Her recent collections were amazing.

Kanye's first Paris debut immediately came to mind.

It's all very by-the-numbers lux with a plush color-palette and lush lines, but it all feels so corporate/soulless/cynical because everyone's seen this all before.

I’m pretty sure some pieces will feel luxurious and even desirable when time comes for it to be paraded on insta people. There is however this growing sentiment in me that Kim simply doesn’t know how to flatter a woman’s body. Albeit his couture outing was much worse in that aspect.

The collection definitely bring to mind this image: a modern-day instathot decided to pull a Bling Ring during the pandemic. Decided to rob some rich people's houses and due to her uuuhmazing fashion taste, swiped a lot, and I mean a LOT of MGC's Dior. Decided to mix her IG/Tiktok friendly midriff/bikini tops and the "luxury" loot - styled it to look "street and current". The mix resulted to this disgusting mess.

Fendi without any of the charm or wit...it’s just not Fendi no matter how wearable it is.

I have real sense of déjà vu looking at this collection...
It does feel like he customized existing outfits from the archives. He added his « scarf » gimmick but it’s just an unfortunate styling and tweaking exercise. Even the color palette is very Karl’s last collection...But sadder.

Some fabulous furs but it’s not it.

I wonder if doing Womenswear isn’t just an ego trip. Because he clearly has nothing to say in terms of vision. This could have been done better by a lazy studio...

Very boring, at moments it feels like his playing to the "taste" of his Kardashian namesake but most of the time it reads as just another forgettable Milan show, Ferretti or Max Mara have perfected that aesthetic down to a science but Kim will now give them a run for their money...

At least is not as cloying and heavy as his couture debut, those geriatric ward curtains on Naomi were just evil!

P.S: Montana's work with fur 30 years ago is more avant-garde than those silly scarfs and yeti costumes.

Solid debut collection. There's room for improvement obviously. But the codes of the house ARE there. SO, YOU GUYS WANT FUR? I'LL GIVE YOU FUR!

The sad part is that even if he would make trash bags for Fendi, and as long as their famous friends wear them, they would be praised everywhere!

Put a potato sack on Kate Moss. They are gonna love it anyways!

This would be Cruella DeVil's dream collection. As she says "I LIVE FOR FUR, DAHLING! THEY'RE MY ONLY TRUE LOVE!" (yes, I'm aware Cruella is a fictional character).

The audacity to think it’s ok to show this collection after Fendi’s last amazing fall collection... Nothing sets Fendi apart from other Italian brands anymore and this just makes me really sad

This looks gross. Made me feel nauseous. Etro and Blumarine are cutting edge in comparison to this trash.

Not offensive or that bad, but very soulless and sad to see after Silvia's last two collections, which were the only outings really pushing fashion forward in a luxurious, beautiful and creative way. Hopefully he can get Dior womenswear which is already doomed and leave Fendi alone!

Isn’t the third look (off shoulder long sleeve knee length dress + thigh high boots) what Bella Hadid or the Kardashians have been wearing for the past 3-4 years?? What issit doing in a new Fendi collection??

Hahahhaa I am just laughing at this because I was at some point was hoping for him to replace Mary at Dior as well. Jokes on me!

This is as bad as the couture collection. While the clothes are not as offensive but it has nothing to offer. Literally I have see most of this. It's like bad and ill fitting versions of the archive.

On a very slow and lazy day, the Fendi studio team can produce a better collection than this.

:D:D:woot:

Saw a quote from Kim Jones he wanted his friends to go crazy for the clothes and he want them to “want to wear it right away”.
Will be a good test who his real friends are, because a friend in need is a friend indeed. And this collection looks like sh*t so if you ain’t Kim’s “friend”, you’ll for sure stay away.

Nothing against Kim Jones, but it seems to me that he is only creating all the buzz around him thanks to his UK friends (how can someone influential in fashion state "never saw something so beautiful" after his couture?) and British Press. None of this is ever doubting on his talent, or of any other London based designer. Nothing new to be honest, the Brit Press was always very over-protective toward their local designers. But I am not completely sure this is enough for Jones' success tough. Looking back on what a nice collection Silvia Venturini Fendi presented last season I just cannot get why we have to look at something that plain this season.
