Fendi Spy Bag

ahh... well it's a good thing you did. i agree on the leather too..

she must have ordered it from eluxury. luckily the SA at eluxury told me about the "sheen" (which she likened to faux snake) before I got too excited about it. to bad but at least she can return it.

I was right! that's weird -- I didn't see your response before I typed mine. I must be a slooow typist.

oh i'm reeaaaally loving the new spy bag with the bow and also the velvet patchwork one i posted in the fw handbags thread, ESP the velvet patchwork one!

got it off eluxury:flower:

it was a late night purchase:innocent:

Can I ask what you didn't like about the cream leather? The texture? The sheen? I saw the cream/red handle one in person and it was pretty and my worry was that the bottom of the bag was already dirty even if it hadn't been used and only displayed. But the cream with the green handle looked so pretty too. But I want to hear other people's opinion on this version.

In the lambskin version, my hands down favorite is the GREEN. I've seen someone carrying it and it is striking and soooo pretty. Pictures don't the color any justice. If I didn't order the brown python I would probably have chosen this color.

I am so in love with the spy bag. I am waiting for my brown python and am getting butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it.

the second is velvet... i  them...!

urgh i wish my spy would come already! getting antsy :buzz:

i'm not sure about the first one... but it's quilted with rhinestones.. and then handle and ribbon are velvet. the second is patchwork velvet with leather.

Thanks! Am so antsy about my bag too! When are you expecting yours?

What do you think about the cream/red handle one? Since you know & have a lot of bags, wanna get your opinion. Bad texture?

that second one on the runway

i'm also liking the fur one but not sure about the color of the handles... i'd also like a richer contrast in the colors

Taitai, i haven't seen the cream/red handle one in person... but if it's the same as the regular leathers i was just overall disappointed with my cognac leather one, hence why i "upgraded" to a brown python. The leather lacked the richness in both texture and color from what I had expected from the photos. As for the look of it, I personally like the cream/black handle version better.. or even the cream/green handle.
I touched base with my SA at Fendi NY a bit over a week ago I believe... she said i was just on its way from Italy and they're expecting it in about two weeks (from when I called).

maybe it's just me but the ones that aren't solid leather/python seem cheap. very old navy/target knockoff.

Thanks. The cream/red handle leather is very different. It's not lambskin because it's not soft/smooth but it's not stiff either, it's pliable (makes sense?) But it has a bit of a shine or sheen (depending on the light). It's more casual looking than the lambskin bags. When I told the SA that I was interested in getting it except I was worried about the bag getting dirty, she said that it's the type of leather that can be cleaned really easily with polish. It's not the type that absorbs dirt (like Balenciaga) She showed me how to clean it, so I kinda believe her.

ETA: I didnt get the cream/red obviously bec I ended up getting the python. But it would be a nice weekend bag.

When are you expecting your python?

Hm perhaps it's that more pebbly leather... maybe comparable to the caviar leather of the Chanels? That may explain the "sheen" on them... I don't think I would mind that, as long as the grains weren't too coarse.
To me, a white bag is a white bag. They will get a bit dirty ultimately and I wouldn't trust myself with the task of cleaning it if I somehow marked it up. It's tough to say 'cause I don't know what the leather is like, but I have however had luck with my Gucci bowling bag which is a thick, grainy white leather. They had it treated for me so that when I mark it, I can just rub it off with my finger... I don't know and I doubt it would be the same for the Fendi... and to me, comparing it to a Balenciaga bag's leather really doesn't say much for durability.
I hope hope hope to get my python in no later than a week or so!

I think the only leathers I would consider are the cream/black, green or butterscotch.. they look great. THe cream/black has this kinda "spy" feel to it

Good points. The cream one's leather isn't grainy/coarse, there is texture but it has a somewhat flat surface. But lambskin looks more luxurious.
I am getting my python at about the same time too (but being shipped from Europe to Canada). Maybe they ship out all python bags from Europe at the same time.

Perhaps... I think they were released a bit later than the others.
!! so exciting... we'll be 2 out of 8!
