Fendi Spy Bag

Thanks, cameo. I got the cognac, but the green is available if anyone is interested on styledrop.com. They apparently just have a few of each. Where did you get yours????????????? Trying to find out where they have them retail in the USA.

Shear luck, I happened to be in Bloomies buying a rug when the handbag manager walked by me with a cognac and a brown/logo mix that had just been unpacked and was headed for the floor. I practically jumped her! All fendis were on sale 15% off for two days, I bought the cognac. At least I think it's cognac by name but it is definitely chocolate in color. If any one can clear up the color names for brown that would be great, thanks.

there's cognac, beige and green for color ID's on the styledrop.com page and there's a dark brown on ebay. Or at least there was.

Well, it may be true that they inflate the "retail", but the bags are authentic. Meeyowsa, how much did you pay retail and where? I figure this way, I'll have it on Monday, and there's no tax. With retail at Fendi (which has a waiting list), I have to wait several weeks and pay tax. But thanks for for popping my bubble. :(

I'm not sure how you interpret meomix and my disdain for retailers who artificially inflate prices and lie about it as a personal attack on you. if you don't care and save money on tax, then good for you -- enjoy your bag! mine cost something in the neighborhood of $1900.

Must be serendipity! All this talk about the gorgeous green Spy...then last night, I saw Iman (the model, wife of David Bowie) at a restaurant in SoHo and she had the GREEN SPY!!! :woot: She and the bag looked absolutely amazing!! I couldn't take my eyes off her...and off her bag!!
The green is definitely my favorite among the lambskin versions. It just looks sooo glamorous!!

Meowmix - you know, I think Fendi really has limited pieces of the bags right now (but maybe not in those SUPER limited quantities like 12 of the green worldwide, I'm sure there's more) but definitely still pretty limited. According to my SA in NYC, not a day goes by where they don't have an angry customer demanding to buy the spy bags on display in the window (they can't sell the ones on display.) Don't think Fendi would take the risk of getting people upset just to make the bag THIS popular.

Hmm well I just really take what I'm told by SAs with a grain of salt... like back when there was some supposed rush for the robot (not the flat leather things) tricks, and when I was in beverly hills i saw tons of them sitting aorund on display and I really wanted one but they couldn't sell them and I got pretty upset and I asked them if it would be worthwhile to call other stores and they just chuckled at me and shook their heads. I called another boutique the next afternoon and found the exact one I wanted.
I've spoken to diff SAs at diff boutiques about these bags just because I kept getting diff info on the pleated versions and only the ones in NY and Vegas have suggested that it would be difficult to obtain. I think it really depends on location... but nationally I don't think it's truly that limited. It's certainly not difficult to get... they've got them at dept stores, eluxury, etc.. and I know eluxury is restocking.
The boutiques may be expecting a limited amount but I think they'll meet demand...

As of 3 weeks ago, NY was only getting the pleated in black and brown. And only 3 of each and all have been committed to confirmed buyers. Next shipment will be in mid July. NY is getting one of the lambskins with sequins next week but I think it's already been committed.

Your SA must be a lot better than mine... although mine managed to secure the python for me she wasn't able to or didn't give me any info on the pleated ones, even back when i ordered the regular leather one! Hmph :ermmm: Oh well... thanks for the info! :)

i have seen in a magazine the DENIM pleated spy.

it is gorgeous...... does anyone know anything about this bag? (price, if it is available etc.)

I saw the denim spys in the boutique catalog. I'm sorry but I really don't like this version. If I'm not mistaken it will cost US$1,600 (more or less). I think it will be available only in June.

Allure magazine March issue (Ashley Judd on cover) has a gorgeous and close up photo of the Spy Python. You can really see the texture of the leather. Beautiful!! But I noticed that the python bag in the picture has black (or possibly very very dark brown) handles.

I saw that too, taitai! I actually reaaaally lied the darker handles. The brown python jlo carried also had the dark handles

I know!!! The black or almost-black handles make the python look EVEN MORE luxurious!!!!!!

Meo's: I can't put it into words, but I was just happily posting that I ordered my bag and suddenly there's this series of I-wouldn't-buy-from-them, me-neither, no way, they're-lying-about-retail-so-maybe-they-sell fakes, etc, etc, reactions posted. Imagine you just told your girlfriends you got this great whatever from some store, and that's the response you got. Granted, I'm a newbie, and we're not really girlfriends, but that's just what it felt like. Perhaps even more so because I'm a newbie. ON other boards those types of comments would've typically been qualified or pro-logued with happy congrats, etc. But it's cool. No hard feelings. All good.

boymom, i'm sorry you felt that way... we were just cautioning against the risks of ordering from places like that. here we're pretty vigilant about the whole fakes or retailers that are just not reputable. but really, congrats on your bag! i hope all goes well.

ah ok. i didnt think i had seen it for sale yet.

the magazine i had showed nicole trunfio carrying it backstage at a fashion show, i just thought it looked really great on her :flower:

I haven't yet started toting my butterscotch (osso) Spy around yet but was wondering whether any of you had and whether if you live in a rainy place like me you have sprayed it with Scotchguard (water and stain repellent)? Do let me know as I really wouldn't want to damage or mark the leather. Thanks!:flower:

i would definately scotchguard it if i wer you grill! just make sure to hold the spray at least 30cm from the bag, you dont want it to go all spotty!

sorry to keep mentioning the pleated denim spy, but i cant find a damn picture of it anywhere online! raawwrr!!! does anyone perhaps know where i can see it online?

it's been raining here in SF on and off -- curses! -- but I've been carrying both my green Spy and cream Paddington because I refuse to let the weather ruin my accessorizing! I lightly sprayed both with a water repellent and they're fine. I've never used Scotchguard on my leather goods.

Well, I cancelled the order... because they sell FAKE balenciagas. I have it on very good authority that the Fendi's are real, but I'm not buying from anyone who sells fakes. There are other websites that have half fake/half real... I don't get it.
