Marriage at sight
Supermodel launches acting career in French movie
and shows commitment ring on her finger, a gift
from boyfriend, actor Murilo Rosa.
At the age of 26, Fernanda Tavares is already a veteran
on the catwalks, where she started modeling when she
was 13, after winning a modeling contest. Just like
Gisele B, the brunette, borned in Natal, is part of the
generation of Brazilian models that was honoured by the
fashion world in the 90's and remains working a lot since
then.
Again like Gisele, Fernanda started flirting with an
international career in the movies. She has just shot
a part in the French detective comedy "Gomez Contre Tavarès"
though the Tavarès in the title has nothing to do with her!
Years of struggle
In the production, the top model is Francesca, a Brazilian
ex-convicted, beautiful and cold, who's called to help
Gomez (Stomy Bugsy) and Tavarès (Titoff) finding a precious
stonne. Fernanda decided to accept the invitation after
she found out that the producers wanted her for the role.
"At first, I thought it was one of those movie castings
with 1.000 models for the role. But my agency told me
"They want you." So I said: "Let's do this."
Invitation accepted, she trained her lines in French -
"Because Francesca is not one of those characters who
only appear and say hi." - and had fighting classes. " I
learned to punch, strangulate, and hold a gun right. I
remember one day I went home all broken from the classes."
Did she ask for help from her boyfriend to face the cameras?
"I don't enjoy mixing work and love. He did supported me a lot,
just like he would in anything else."
Dream of motherhood
It all indicates that her relantionship with Murilo - they've
been together since January 2004 - is gonna end up in marriage.
Fernanda shows a white gold commitment ring on her right hand.
"It's a commitment ring.", she says with no future dates. "I never
planned of getting married in a church. I can wake up one day
and just say: "I wanna get married." The only certainty
I have in my life it that I want to have a baby before I
turn 30." she says.
Since last year, she traded New York for
São Paulo, and only leaves to professional appointments or to visit
her boyfriend in Rio de Janeiro. When she can't make it to
see him, Murilo is the one who travels to meet her.
The premiere in the movie career doesn't necessarily mean
a new path. Fernanda says her business is modeling. She's
the new face of the perfum Cool Water, by Davidoff, and
doesn't do runway for less than 50 thousand reais (Brazilian
coin, that's a lot of money here). But the supermodel does not
discard the idea of acting: " I loved the experience, but
I want to see the result of this movie before getting into
a next one."
