Fernando Torres formed at the starter eleven of the National Team and he played 45 minutes of the match against Iceland

The first match of the National Team after the World Cup that ended with a 0-tie at Iceland stadium Laugardalsvöll of Reikjiavik. Iceland–Spain, fits in the preseason, it was useful to Luis Aragones’ players to recuperate the pace of the international competition faced to the next matches against Liechtenstein and North Ireland on September, inside the clasification group to the Eurocup ’08. Raul Gonzalez became the great starter of the match, because he fulfil 100 matches wearing the ‘red’ shirt.

Fernando Torres figured in the starter eleven and he exhibited a good phisical fitness in the 45 minutes that he was on the field. The forward attacked the rival area from the left and he enjoyed no many times to score. A header shot that he failed, the clearest occasion to the forward, that suffered in excess the hard play of the rival defense. At the second half the coach gave them a rest in favour to the entered of Reyes.

Iceland, a phisical rival, it took seriously the match with future training in the classified group to the Eurocup , but the first who warned was Villa, with a shot from outside of the area that touch the left goal post. The turn to Torres came later when he made a header shot from a pass of Pernia from the left side, but at this time the ball passed above Arason’s goal. The Icelandic players demonstrated a good phisical fitness from the first minute and also they got close to Reinas’ area, the clearest one was at 12’, with a shot from the middle-field that could blocked the Liverpool’s goalkeeper.

The Spanish combined touched the ball at the middle of the field looking a way to the rival’s area, but they needed depth. Torres tryed at 27’ with a powerful entered from the left. The action ended with the foward on the ground after suffering a hard foult at the border of the area. No much happended until the break, just a very powerful shot from Albeda which worried Arason, the local goalkeeper.

At the second half it didn’t change a lot, although the replacements. The entered of Reyes instead Torres added the entered of Joaquin instead Luis Garcia, in a clear intention to approach for both sides of the Icelandic bunker. Almost he achieved it, the Arsenal player in two actions: a shot and a foult shot put could inaugurated the scoreboarder. Joaquin couldn’t do it either at 88’, a shot from a pass of Antonio Lopez couldn’t fit between the three post.

The match couldn’t get wide it, the last one to start the way to September to the Eurocup’08. Will be the 2nd against Liechtenstein at Almendralejo (Badajoz), and the 6th against North Ireland.
