flo just released the first official recorded single from her next album--
she really seems to capture that essence for which she wanted for her new material....which is a little more banshees-esque......and her voice even haunts a little more in that operatic vein sioux was capable of.
Not sure I hear that much Siouxie in the new song; it almost seems more Fleetwood Mac at times than anything the Banshees did. But it's great the way the song cresendos. And the lyrics make me think of Virginia Woolf, of course, who put stones into her pockets, and then walked into the water ... taken by the overflow.
the album i'm thinking specifically about is tinderbox...i hear a lot of that brimming intensity in this song. the sweetest chill....this unrest....cities in dust. definitely a lot fleetwood mac too. i know she was talking about what direction she wanted to go for the new material last year....and she noted FM and the banshees specifically.
btw, great observation on the virginia woolf equation. that's who i immediately thought about too.
Yeah, I see what you mean now, re: intensity, putting it into context with the crescendoing of the new song. I liked it better even the second time I listened to it, which is always a good sign. Look forward to the rest.
Is there even a slight resemblance between Florence and Virigina when she dons her hat?? Perhaps ... or maybe I am pushing it.
^i don't think you're pushing it all. there is something very virginia woolf about her spirit. that intrinsic melancholy flo possesses.....that complicated persona.....
Gorgeous Song. Can't wait for new album. She looks great without makeup. Is that finger tattoo new?
But is that really going to be the video? It's not that exciting except the final shot of her under the Abbey Road sign.
i'm afraid that's the official video unless she decides to re-shoot an alternate version like she did with 'dog days'. i have to say that's the only thing i found rather disappointing....not that it was bad just that i was hoping for more of a narrative.....something a bit more flo-ish. but then again,i guess with all that comes with being able to record at abbey road, she wanted to document it this way.
