Imagine that somehow you have lost every boot, shoe, sandal, etc, you own. You need to rebuild!!! Plus, you have also lost track of what year it is so you decide you better stick to the classics.

What shoes do you put down on your "Footwear Wardrobe" shopping list?

I'm just thinking, everyone needs:
- A running shoe
- A knee-high boot
- A stacked-heel loafer
- A stilleto pump

What else?

A good pair of flats I think, and a pair of high heel sandals. I'd nix the stacked feel loafer but thats just me

You must have a pair of cute and comfortable black heels... and if you can get one in both round and pointy toes... Same goes for black flats, round and pointy toes.

Then go to the browns... for the same.

Strappy sandals, black, silver (colors you can wear with anything)

Then I just try to fill the rest of my collection with cute or unique shoes.

I have ballet flats in lots of colors.

Running shoes, yea.. tons of sneakers.

a pair of loafers... but not the stacked heel thing.

Jeez.. If I lost my shoes, I'd hate to have to start from scratch

Since knee high boots don't work for me. I have calf and ankle boots... round and pointy toed but only in black and brown.

thats a difficult one...

i would agree with luna

plus:
for the summer,
black open toe sandals
nude open toe sandals
jewelled leather flip flops

.... i actually dont know where to start??!!!

If we are talking basics here is a list to consider /choose from

For home:
Uggs or felt Birkinstocks - note to those who hate Uggs - I don't see them as fashion anymore, they are basics.

For Fitness:
A pair of running shoes purchased form a proper running store (take your old shoes with you as they will help the assistants assess your running style.) If they won't let you try before you buy, walk out of there.
A pair of cross trainers for other fitness classes - don't wear your running shoes for other sports. it damages the stability.

Casual:
White canvas converse low tops/or white Jack Purcells or white canvas Bensimon or simliar plain, white classic sneakers.
Birkinstock sandal
Plain Havaianas or plain flat tan leather sandals.
Some pull-on boots - gaucho western style, (i.e. Frye) or anything simliar (eg Fiorentini & Baker) in a nice tan or camel leather or possibly a suede.
A soft driving loafer - tod's, prada etc...
Proper wooden clogs, with leather uppers.
Ballet shoes.
Clarks desert boots.

Formal:
A pair of knee length black leather boots - toe shape and heel height to your preference.
Ankle boots.
Classic pump - again your preference of toe shape and hee height.
A pair of black or metallic leather strippy sandals to your preference of heel height.
A smarter pair of loafers in a stiffer leather with a formal leather sole. Again, the toe shape and heel style to your preference.

I honestly don´t see how uggs could ever be a footwear staple.
They are for those who like them, like everything else....

Heels- (all stiletto w/ pointy toe because classic & my preference)
*knee boot
*ankle boot
*pump
*low heeled slide
*strappy stiletto sandal

flats- (square toes)
*knee boot
*ankle boot
*loafer/ driving moc
*sandal that buckles
*slip on sandal
*thong (leather not plastic:yuk: )

bluefly
neimanmarcus
bergdorfgoodman
american eagle
jcrew
bananarepublic

* Black dressy boots to go out.
* Black distressed boots for everyday wear
* Black dress shoes, just for sh*ts and giggles
* Classic sneakers, nothing like those diesel looking things, just a basic reebok, converse ( even though it looks like you're trying too hard) or any plain basic sneaker...
*Thin, flat basic flip flop, like havaianas or old navy

That's all I can think of now...

ooh thanks for the collages stiletto  I am a sucker for pictures

Great choices, stilettogirl!

Here are mine... of course, the images are my DREAM shoe wardrobe, but they're part of a general idea that's definitely attainable.

1 great pair of boots:

Gleam-- Those ballet flats and day heels that you posted are gorgeous!!!

Ok- mine would be...

Endless pairs of ballet flats in various colors

Great fitting and looking boots-- black

Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choos

Sandals like Jackie O used to wear whilst in Greece

For me, one pair of biker boots, of the Ann D style is a must... to wear with dresses and jeans, or to help you dress down a very formal evening...

they are simple and comfortable and add instant edge to any outfit....

What I think a woman "should" have in her wardrobe:

- 1x pair of simple, well cut, black pumps, they don´t necessarily have to be very high, 7,5cm should do perfectly well.

- 1x pair of simple black equestrian boots with flat sole (they go well either with pants tucked in or skirts).

- 1x pair of comfortable flats for daytime, preferably in a neutral shade.

- 1x pair of heels that can go both for daytime or evening, for those that don´t have the need for evening shoes, the above mentioned pumps will have to be cut a little more open than with normal court pumps.

- 1x pair of sneakers, I´d say Converse chucks for their versatility and fairly slim shape, they simply look good on women. Please no fussy Pumas...!!!

- 1x pair of casual, flat sandals.

Strictly speaking, I have none of those, and I have a perfectly functional shoe wardrobe

I would agree with black and brown heels and flats. I would add a comfortable pair of walking shoes (I like Merrells). Then I'd add a pair of slides and a pair of espadrilles for summertime. Plus a pair of evening shoes (mine are all black, but metallic wouldn't be a bad choice). And for spring, a pair of brightly colored heels for fun.
