Frida Giannini - Designer

^Frida Giannini for just about ANY fashion house at this rate. I miss Giannini's days at Gucci terribly, and her collections and campaigns will always and forever hold a very special place in my heart! You say Gucci and I think Giannini.

Her tenure at Gucci was very lack lustre and who could forget those hideous"Frida" pants ie her take on Jodhpurs. She only had 2 stellar collections during her tenure, her Fall 2006 Glam Rock collection and her Fall 2011 40s by way of 70s Paris Vogue collection thats it.

Her Gucci Spring 2010 show is probably my favourite womenswear show, I don't care who disapproves, it was high-tech and luxe and cool AF.

I think my only piece of (men's) clothing from that era is a Winter 2012 chunky-knit wool sweater-blazer: it features no branding, logos, words, or other superfluous details, just a heavyweight jumbo-gauge knit in a beautiful shade of green.

Frida should just launch her own namesake label: Frida Giannini sounds soothing and looks even better on a tag.

She could create an aura of exclusivity, elusiveness and under-the-radar of dressing the individual against all the corporate fastfashion that every label now has become; offering strong, timeless and artisanal separates branded with her ideal of rock iconoclastic attitude. And she doesn’t need to offer pants LOL Looking back at her time with Gucci, she produced an immense, and in hindsight, a solid offering of versatile separates for women. Are her pants any more horrid than whatever trolling mess that Phoebe’s currently offering? The best look from Phoebe is the power suit that’s typical 90s girl boss, that could easily be had from Ellen Tracey to diffusion-DKNY. It’s really nothing fresh. I’ve noticed that Phoebe’s just recycling wholesale 90s looks. Her custom-made suit for Edward was so lazy: Very Color Me Badd LMFAO Linda’s satin bedsheet outfit is atrocious: It’s what extremely conservative Muslim women would wear— and still look better than this Phoebe slop on Linda. Half of Phoebe’s offering is solid staples, while the other half is pure trolling. That square-toe, centre-seamed shoe is so gross. What’s she going o troll with next: mismatched patches of leather like some Frankenstein’s Monster version of a shoe, like how cheap leather coats from the 90s were produced cheaply??? Sure she’s Phoebe and many are convinced that she invented fashion, with that sort of rep alone alone will sell loads of anything. But Frida actually designs separates that offer timeless calm and even an artisanal touch. And that’s so much more convincing and charming than trolling fashion.

I hope your enthusiasm may match your purchase history at FRIDA GIANNINI.
She was a very good accessory designer, a very mid RTW designer.

Her work has no value on it own.
I’m ok with revisionism sometimes but come’on…

Frida at Ferragamo however is not a bad idea.

After Tom, Gucci was always dead to me LOL

Not so much revisionist history Lola— just.. straightforward sense, more so especially in these lesser, lessest fashion days. She designed with a very no-nonsense bourgeoisie sensibility. One that is understandably frowned upon as not daring/conceptual/inventive and maybe dismissed as common fashion tropes of its time. But in general, her separates and her made-to-measure on celebs were classic glam— not trolling silliness just for the sake of going against the grain, of which in this era, means looking like a clown . Even my first love Helmut produced awful fashions: His last collection was mediocre if I’m being kind. So I'll take your word that her pants were… pants. Meanwhile, people like Phoebe/both Daniels/Anthony Vaccarello etc have made fashion so mundane, relying on lazy nostalgia. And Frida was never by any means great, but she at least designed clothes that aren’t a mockery of fashion nor costume-y. And in these days of trolling fashion that’s also offensively expensive for at best mediocre products, Frida’s in retrospect, is good enough.

She was a commercial designer. Nothing more, nothing less. I like some pieces from her S/S 2012 "Hard Déco" collection...but that´s it!

But if she is back, first she needs to take classes on how to properly pattern pants, please!
