So many celebs wearing Frida's Gucci, definitely throwing shade at Demna.
Can't believe we had to reach rock bottom with Ancora and Demna to let people realize she was not bad at all...

I guess, in a way. But there’s been a huge resurgence of fashion from around 2008-2013 among the trophy hunting archivists. Fridas Gucci, Pilati’s YSL, Tisci’s Givenchy, later McQueen, Comme and Yohji etc. Even Raf’s Dior is getting reassessed, now that his name is brought into the conversation more with Blazy at Chanel and Mulier moving to Versace.

The pendulum hasn’t entirely swung the other way because people are still yearning for the past. Devil Wears Prada 2 has also created an uptick of sorts, but more for the red carpet looks.

This was probably the only collection of hers that I actually liked. Because it was very not her for Gucci. I remember feather work in RTW was on another level this season too, and it was season of the 50s resurgence of a more “nipped” waist.

I agree with you on this. You would never expect Frida to do Black Dahlia inspired noir movie costumes. A nice shift from the ultra glamazon maneater / rockstar POV. I think she had a very good run early 2010's with her aesthetic being less predictable and "tacky" but then she reached the bottom with the latest collections that were a pure merchandise exercise. I think the debut from Alessandro is far superior to anything she released at the very beginning and very end of her tenure.

I also think that people are lapping this up because it’s easier to find and cheaper at the moment in the resale market. No one’s truly cared about her until now with all the revisionism going on and I’m sure her ego is feeling satisfied. But let’s be real. People are going for it because the archival pieces of late 90s to early 2000s are harder to get because the buyers are over saturated.

She’s silver plated alloy among pure gold. Nothing bad with that, but it’s the truth.
