Fringe Fashion

i am starting to really want a pair of boots with some fringe detailing...:innocent:

kiddokiddo, you're so right about BAlenciaga fw07.08,
thats what started the whole ss08 trend

the recent NYT fringe article is stating mainly the black version
but still not feeling this at all...

....as for the fresh raffia trend this is a different and much more interesting story, well deserving a separate trend discussion altogether
I've been trying to find any articles on the trend on raffia
It seems like a usual summer trend
But I haven't found many fashion designers using it.. just these ones ApertureRomance suggested, and Marni
It seems more popular in furniture/industrial design?

I hope it's not too off-topic to mention, but I think raffia is a reoccurring material in summer shoes bags, etc. THink espadrilles, woven bags, etc. Not so much a trend unless it's used in unexpected ways IMO.

for those who dislike suede fringe, look away now! :P

for those who dislike fringe...get out of this thread.! :P

i love the first mocassins you posted saann...and that antik batik bag   i want that bag.!

 hey saann, are we mixing the fringe trend with the tassels trend here? cause i may hate fringe but i like tassels :D

btw, those zac & marni tassel bags look suspiciously 'close'
and the last marni bag looks more raffia than fringe to me

ps. sorry but the links in your last post are not working

oh ! ^

the marni ones are made of tubular vinyl strips ^_^

the menswear fall 08 had a lot of these sort of 'hairy' things.. pile, fur, etc not so much fringe
but i am guessing fringe stems from those ideas in the menswear too...

kind of makes me wonder what the reference to society this trend is making...
definitely felt more a theme surrounding comfort/warmth in the menswear
the womenswear is something completely different

Lena you are absolutely right.. I was unsure about posting the Marni ones, because at first I didn't think it looked like fringe, it was more the close-up that got me confused.. I'm still not sure.. so you're probably right about the raffia:P

adore - I love that antik bag too.. It's a must have.. it's not that expensive too, at least if you compare it to the other bags posted:P

Old navy, forever21 and H&M all had cute little fringe bags this weekend.

I absolutely LOVE that Vanessa Bruno dress that Mullet posted on page 3, such a beautiful and believable way to wear fringe.

Something about fringe makes it seem like it's fun to wear. It makes me think Charleston, dancing, twirling....I dunno, but it's definitely not boring.

Some more additions.

When done correctly, this look can suggest a cool, modernized flapper context.

i really like fringes, but i dont like them on the summer sandals too much. in this way they just look kind of cheap to me...
