Fur F/W 07.08

I don't agree with the vintage fur view. When does a vintage fur stop being vintage? In 30 years, will a 2007 fendi fur be a vintage? Is there a cut off date?

I think fur is beautiful and have no problem with fur in fashion. Mink coats have always been a sign of sophistication...

it would b nice also to se fur on editorials.....

i need a new fur this year anyway - thinking of going grey - im totally loving the Badgley Mischka cropped one. May have to get me one like that - have to shop about for the perfect one as I prefer vintage or secondhand to new.

Cody - i totally agree!

Xone - im pretty surethere is usually a fur spread in Vogue from one country or another! i remember seeing a fendi recently in one that i just fell in love with!

^ yep, each year the international fur trade federation (www.iftf.com) launches a campaign published in several Vogues on the September Issues.

i'm spending the winter in moscow so i'm considering a fur- what about this margiela beaver?

Litchickuk - where you going to shop? Portebello Market is supposed to be good I here for vintage furs and the like?

^yeah I know but they have some obscene price tags at times. I like to look in more obscure places that I have stumbled upon throughout my travels. I did get my last one on ebay though for a fiver!

I've always loved fur. It's beautiful and glamorous, when worn right. It's also practical, because where I live the winters are cold and nothing protects your ears like a fuzzy chic fur hat. I probably won't ever buy fur myself, but I have no problem wearing vintage fur from my grandmother. At least that way the animal won't be dead for no reason.

Fur houses are updating their sites with their new winter collections, they are usually more classic than designers ones, but beautiful nontheless and the reason is simple, when a costumer wants an extravagant or creative fur, they go to Gaultier for example and when they want the timeless classic, they choose "haute fourrure" houses.

My choice from the pictures above is the first one, that beige chinchilla coat.

The purple one reminds me of something you would wear by the fireplace in the wintertime.

I thinks is gaudy.. specially most of the fur her is so nouveau rich and 'IN YOUR FACE' I like it more subtle. No full length coats.

I also think it looks ridiculous wearing it a place like London, as you don't need to as it does not get that cold.

I know that some furs can be a bit 'in your face' but I guess you gotta match the item with the occasion. For example you probably wouldn't wear a full length fur coat if you were nipping out for a pint of milk. Then again other furs (like the white mink above) can be worn everyday. The full length ones would be for very special occasions I guess.
