Cool sunglasses :)
I know I really like them...all though for some reason they remind me somewhat of the latest Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie  :ninja:

i always find the future and futuristic aspects of fashion to be extremely inspirational. love the chanel sunglasses in post #18 and the convertible chalayan dresses.

In keeping of my anti-80's ranting, let it be known that I'm sick of Star Trek. All the reruns on Spike TV and G4TV... can't they just make a Star Trek channel so that we don't have to screw around with wasting an hour before something good or better (hopefully) is on TV?

A lot of these futuristic looks can be completely cheap or completely... interesting... based on its wearer. I'd think a lady looks weird simply because she looks like she's from another dimension or planet. If there was a fashion piece I liked from the first page of this thread, it would likely be the Maison Martin Margiela look. And I will admit that the Givenchy dress/gown in Post #17 is a very nice design. I like the blue color of that dress. But I would rather make the outlines white instead of black. I'd probably get rid of whatever design that is up in the torso area. Otherwise, nice dress. The top picture of Post #9 kind of looks like she's strapped with solar panels. Not ugly... just a bit weird. I'm not really at any liberty to judge these looks as amazing or horrid.

Will designers keep doing this or is this just a temporary thing? Any ideas?

Well, I don't know much about fashion but...I think this might be just a small but strong trend of this season. But then again, for example Ghesquière has been a big influence with the past collections.

Somehow it just feels like this is not going to last.

^ it might last on the catwalk, but definitely not in real life. i can't imagine ms. everyday woman coming into work with chemistry goggles and space invader hats

true...but what about less loud items such as those shown in Lanvin? I do think those items are really going to sell, but my question is: Where do most designers get their inspiration from?

we wont get this thread off topic jj

feel free to use our search feature on trend forecasting threads and revive one of our older discussions ;)

I'm very curious how these looks will translate. I'm a little skeptical, honestly. That said, I love those weirdo glasses from the balenciaga show.

I cant wait to see this in the stores...did anyone notice any futurism in NYC?

i totaly agree it will be interesting to see the collections in the stores.

Can metallics be put in the category of futurism? or is it the detailing that goes along with it?

I was just thinking...Balenciaga SS 07 looks a lot like Dior Homme FW 01

Futuristic Chic.

Futuristic goggles and shiny materials made their debut at the Balenciaga FW07 show. Pictures :
