Gael García Bernal gallantly tried to auction off a Missoni dress and a honey-colored python handbag at amfAR’s second annual Cinema Against AIDS gala in Rome on Saturday night. It was a difficult job for a straight dude unfamiliar with fashion-speak, and his confused ramblings, made in a strange mix of English, Spanish, and Italian, were cut short by Phillips de Pury’s Rodman Primack. Undaunted, the star of The Motorcycle Diaries went on to offer a free salsa lesson, a move aimed to please both the ladies and the pocket prince himself, considering that his head would likely nestle somewhere just north of the breasts of 95 percent of the women in his audience. It was the easiest sell of the night, earning a cool $6,000 for the charity.

Actor Gael García Bernal and Dolores Fonzi became the parents of a son that weighed three kilograms, according to the Spanish press. The blog Vida de celebridad, that quotes the Spanish program Vía rosa, indicated that the actor who married the Argentinean a few days ago, was seen entering La Paz hospital in Madrid last weekend.

The couple, that chose Spain for the birth of their first-borne, made their debut as parents last Monday. The decision to settle in Madrid coincides with the II Brazilian Film Festival where the movie Blindness is showing. Additionally, the couple wanted their son to have double nationality.

Dolores Fonzi and Gael García Bernal were married in the last days, according to Mexican publications. Even Gael’s father, José Angel García, allowed this phrase to escape: “My son is pleased and I as a grandfather am most happy because he chose a woman like Dolores to be his wife and the mother of his son.”
