Game of Thrones

That opening scene was terrifying. But who's the chick - I don't remember reading that Ramsay had a hunting partner.

ISn't she, along with the blonde prey, the girls that ravaged, then was there when Theon was emasculated?

This season seems to be stretched too thin already, for me anyways. There are too many characters to develop and too many stories to tell. Every sequence feels rushed-- with no time for me to soak in the atmosphere. It feels so mechanical now, just more like snippets.

Arya and The Hound were the highlight-- but then, this duo have always been the scene-stealers for me. But I still felt their was very rushed. Arya is adorable and lethal. Her character, and Maisie are fascinating to watch: The manner in which she delicately, and meticulously strikes the killing stroke, then slowly draws out her sword, is both thoughtful, and frightening. SHe enjoys killing.

It's too bad another fascinating character, and strong portrayal, is gone already. Him and Arya-- him and Maisie, are genuinely fascinating to watch, and outshine the more experienced ensemble cast.

Despite the main event, the most memorable scene for me was Sansa defying Joffrey and giving Tyrion a helping hand. Very tender moment. In hindsight, she's always possessed a quiet defiance and strength. The Stark girls are their strongest hope to carry on their name.

(And my oh my, Bran has grown to be quite stunning-looking... I do enjoy Hodor: Is he capable of saying anything other than "Hodor"...?)

I knew that was coming but I still enjoyed the hell of it!!

That being said, my expectations for the show have ceased to be very high since the 2nd season.

As someone mentioned above, there are far too many characters. Martin has slipped into an annoying pattern: kill the main characters and bring on board 3 new ones for every single one who dies. Most I don't give a damn about. Melissandre and her story line?
It's like Martin can't carry out a proper story line so he just kills of his characters. It was bad enough he killed the good guys, now he's killing the bad ones too. Without the heros and the villains, why watch?

None of the stories of the remaining characters are very compelling. Danny, whom I adore is doing NOTHING but wandering around gathering her army and waiting for her dragons to grow up. For 3 effin seasons.

Similarly, Aria's story ceased to be very interesting at the end of last season. Yet another character who seems to do nothing but wonder around. It took Ned Stark 1 episode to get from Winterfell to King's Landing, yet it takes everyone else SEASONS to get. . .anywhere. It's frustrating.

My hope is that Jon Snow, Tyrion and Danny (yes i am still rooting for her) will make this watchable until. . .you know something happens!!

I agree that the pace appears to be going way too quick - I can't believe Joff is gone - and only in the 2nd episode of the new season.

What did people think of the Cersei/Jamie r*pe scene? The director has come out saying he didn't intend it to be r*pe, but it certainly came across like that for me.

he said that?! Cersei was saying no and Jamie was saying he didnt care, how is that not r*pe?
their whole relationship is weird, this was just added weirdness. It didnt make me uncomfortable per se but it wasnt them having sex in the heat of passion either, at least if that was the director's intention it didnt seem like it.

I was so shocked by that scene. Like being raped just next to your dead son....... What a shock! We watched it with my bf and a friend, and we were all pretty shocked by that scene.

It was a bizarre scene, for sure. It's almost as if the writers were thinking: "Oh, this is HBO, after all. Let's make it as crazy as we can!"

It seemed like something from Spartacus as opposed to Game of Thrones.

Vulture interviewed the director here:

They also spoke with GRRM:

It's sad, I was really liking Jamie. I feel they un-did all the character development he went through last season.

I was scared Joffrey was going to topple over onto Cersei and Jamie when they went down to the ground.

The director saying that it wasn't r*pe because it was "consensual by the end" is a million kinds of disgusting.

^ Yea it is! They should have kept it closer to the book.. I do agree that it feels like Jamie's character has gone backwards in development now.

I thought the same thing!

I feel like they have rushed Sansa's arc too fast, her big scene in the last episode could have been longer and split up between a couple more episodes. Her going against her crazy aunt should have been more dramatic in my opinion. Maybe for the next two seasons the producers will keep the trend of the show spoiling the books of what's to come and Sansa will be one of the characters they will reveal more of, GRRM is really setting her up for an even bigger arc in the next two books.

They have spent a good 7 episodes on Arya and The Hound which IMO it's fluff at this point and she's the one character who has the longest story out of everyone, she's the only character in the next two books, get her going to where she's heading.

^that whole scene was very disturbing imo, maybe more than the RW... his screams gave me goosebumps

Do we all agree that was the most gruesome death thus far? Totally unfair, Prince Oberyn was fast becoming my new favourite!

I've really enjoyed Sansa's arc this season, Sophie Turner killed it in the last episode.

As for the other Starks (Bran and Arya and to a certain extent Jon Snow) I've found their story lines a bit repetitive and boring.

I wish we could less time with Dany and Theon, and more with the Lannisters - hate them all you want, they are the most exciting part of the show.

No way, that flayed body of the ironborn man had me not eating the rest of the night. Gross.

I thought the long tracking shot of Castle Black was exceptionally well done last night :woot:

I cant believe there's only one episode left! The season went by so fast :(
