I was wondering if anyone else on tFS has bought any Pugh pieces from the past or current seasons? :flower: :woot:

Also, I have been thinking how much the (already high) retail prices will go up since he's now made his debut in Paris.

I have some of his stuff... I wear this F/W 07 striped top the most of all:

I am so excited because I just got my holy grail Pugh piece which should arrive in a week. it's a jacket which I've only seen him wearing... and that I never thought I'd find, since i've never seen it sold through stores. but I have gotten it thanks to a friend's help  I will post pics when it arrives :woot:

post up pics if you have some :flower::flower:

how dare you taunt us Inaya! Some "friend" has led you a mysterious magical "jacket" that only Pugh himself has?! Give us more details! :P

That top looks really interesting - what does it look like on?

It's funny this issue of pricing. To be honest, Pugh's prices have been rising every year and yes will continue to rise. My question is however - will there be people to pay? I don't know. I wonder if younger designers like him will get lost in the shuffle because what they do is so different, that if someone "only" has 2.5k to spend in a season, are you going to spend it all on a white "plastic" dress with armour or a couple of cashmere sweaters and a pair of pants? Or will people really appreciate 'one of a kind' clothes? I'm not sure.

I also wonder how he supports his line given the high prices and how much he appears to just give away to his friends or indie hipsters (or Roisin Murphy) and to be honest I'm kind of like - why should I pay 1800 for this when you've just given it to that 15 year old kid?! Maybe I'm just jealous?! I want free things too!

haha sorry I didn't mean to sound cryptic  :flower: It's this jacket here, I will def post pics when it arrives. I feel so lucky and thrilled and I don't even have it in my hands yet :D

The top above, when it's on, it looks striped - black and sheer - like the tights in this runway pic. :flower:

You make a really good point on his pricing. unfortunately (for us, but good for him) I've been hearing of museums and collectors buying early Pugh pieces lately. so i'm afraid maybe things like that may give retailers an excuse to keep the prices high, especially since now he's showing in Paris

ah that jacket IS so super cool. I like pieces like that. I hoped over to Browns and saw the pricing - it was less than I thought it was also for very ordinary pieces. I think the big pieces definitely will stay highly priced.

wow, that jacket is AWESOME. what a cool piece. It's a statement piece but so wearable

That is an amazing jacket Inaya...

I would love to see a picture of it being worn.

:flower:

Thanks... I am so elated, it is def one of my holy grail items so I am so excited.

For now - here is a pic of my friend wearing it, I hope she won't mind... hehe. But I dont get it for about a week so it's the only pic we have for now. :flower: I'll take detail pics when it arrives :D

That jacket is for sale in Dover Street Market i think its around the £1200 price mark the lining is nice too

i have a few pieces from f/w 07 onwards i'm hoping to order one of the silk trench coats from s/s 09 this week:flower:

i will admit.....those are effin great pieces, inaya! you know, and i can be honest....now that i've been his stuff apart, piece by piece,he's actually beginning to interest me more. i love the stuff seven has too. of course, none is available anymore.

1800 or more though....as lovely as they are...i could buy a couple marjan pieces for that....even his more intricate stuff seems affordable compared with that range. eek!

thank you! :crush: I'm glad you're getting more into his work :D:heart: If you look at the pieces individually, they're all pretty great; really thoughtfully designed and always have great attributes.

unfortunately some of his early stuff wasn't made with the best of materials, but I'm sure the quality will go up now that it'll more than likely get produced on a larger scale. ^_^

^yup and no thanks to the higher-quality sights of rick owens and michelle lamy. which is good for him i think.

the cracked leather from s/s 08 was beautiful i think there are some pictures of me wearing it somewhere in the waywt thread:flower:

Would you mind posting them here Victim?

I'd love to see the pics.. :flower:

Inaya: It really looked so gooood on your friend..!

yeah it does look great. Is she wearing the new drkshdw pants as well?! I totally agree with pucci that it is both extremely wearable but a total standout piece. It would look as great with skinny jeans as it would over an evening gown.

^^ hehe, yes she has drkshdw pants on there :flower: I can't wait to get it... probably will arrive in about a week. I agree, Meg, part of the appeal is that it stands out so much, but it could go with so many diff looks!

congrats inaya...it's definitely very cool...
more wearable than a lot of his stuff..
how do you wear the 'stripe' top?
i assume it's sheer...so what do you do?

thanks!  Yeah that top is sheer, so I like to layer with it. I have this Rick Owens 'wrap front' cardigan that I like to wear it under, most often. It's a good base layer for a lot of the black, voluminous tops/cardigans/jackets I wear. :flower:
