Geek Glasses

...just cos riccardo tisci shows it at givenchy doesn't make it a trend...

i have a miu miu pair for reading and on the computer, they are very cool. they are quite thick and are kind of tortice shell. ill have a look for a picture

Depends on the person's face. They suit some but not others.
Chanel, Gucci and Versus have some really nice thick-rimmed glasses.

They remind me of the glasses that my dad used to wear in the 70/80's
Actually i think they look cute on the models but i'm not sure about real life. My glasses are square black rimmed but not as thickly rimmed. maybe a bit common but i think i prefer it that way..

i have a pair but not as big as those brown rimmed. i believe the the trick is not to go all nerd ie with ur clothes and hair otherwise u may look like a strict dorm warden!

I  them, but imo it depends on the person wearing them and what they're wearing them with.

I am personally not a fan of this trend..... But I can't help but notice it... :ninja:

What do you think of this? Trying too hard or cute?
i honestly thought that was over a few years ago....it's so not my thing.

^ me too..lol there are a few folks still fighting it.. I had thick rimmed glasses in 10th grade.. :O

Ashley Olsen wore them once. They look okay on her but it all depends on who wears them. I prefer the slimmer ones. The more narrow glass ones. But of course, whatever Marc Jacobs makes is fantastics so...:blush:

I have a black thick-framed kinda square shaped pair from Prada. They have a slight greenish tint and they really suit my round face. I think they look good on almost everyone as long as you get a pair that flatters your face shape.

i think they are so cute. i like the ones James Dean wears (except maybe a little rounder). i've actually been trying to find a pair i like over here and in vancouver, but i never can!!!

hmm does anyone here know someone who is working in optics? i wonder what they make glasses out of. a long time ago i saw a french show where a man made glasses out of wood and the parts that go over the ears with plastic. maybe i can make my own; i am taking a sculpture class right now:lol:

I ant believe no one has mentioned that Viktor & Rolf is selling some glasses modeled after the ones they wear ... I thought I saw it posted in here ...

I love geek-chic! Its so sexy! Sexy secretaties, Rau! Rau!

i am not sure if i should be offended by this thread......

i guess being a geek is ok...
geek chic and all that....
i know my ex said one of the reason he was first attracted to me was my glasses...which...yes...looked similar to the ones from the givenchy show (not as big)-paul smith men's actually...

i don't know...
it still feels like being called a geek is not really a compliment, you know?...no matter how 'chic' they try to make it sound...

anyway-
i only like this if you actually WEAR glasses...
if not...
i think it is odd and pretentious...
and slightly offensive...
some of us really need them to see, you know...

*it's sort of like rolling around in a wheelchair just cause you think it's 'cute'...
not so cute to the person who can't walk...:ninja:...

anyway....
that's the point of view of a girl who wears glasses....
:innocent:...
