Geek Glasses

Ok, just to get things straight... This thread is about GEEK glasses (OVERSIZED glasses with slightly thick frame), not GLASSES..... Some people are posting pics of glasses that have a thick frame... That's not the purpose of the thread.... ;)

Agree a bit with you Soft, I am a glass wearer, but I usually wear contact lenses.. I'd personally find it a bit pushed to far when seeing someone faking it.... But it's much less extreme than faking the wheelchair... :ninja:

Marc Jacobs is ACTUALLY a geek though, there's nothing chic about it.

I've blinded myself reading Proust, I'd like a pair of Cutler & Gross but it's not bloody likely.

of course......
i chose something extreme intentionally in order to illustrate my point dramatically...

that is why i said 'sort of' like and not 'exactly' like...

;)

 burn me in hell but i certainly do not feel un-ethical when wearing my clear lense geek frames ;)

I got these Dolce Gabbana's for myself today. Would these be considered geek?

Those are definitely more emo :ninja:

I've been wearing the "Buddy Holly" look for a while now, I love the look

Im not wearing them on this pic but you can see them.

i only like this if you actually WEAR glasses...
if not...
i think it is odd and pretentious...
and slightly offensive...
some of us really need them to see, you know...

*it's sort of like rolling around in a wheelchair just cause you think it's 'cute'...
not so cute to the person who can't walk...:ninja:...

 ... i agree.. it makes no sense to me if you don't even really wear glasses.. strictly for the trendy then..

but yeah.. this seems to have been going on for quite a while hasn't it? I remember this going on strong when I was a sophmore in HS... and I'm a sophmore in college now.

I think that they're the kind of trend that looks good on runways and models, but ugly in person.

I don't think they'll ever become as big as those honkin' aviator sunglasses did over the summer. >.<

I like the style of those Dolce glasses.
I've been thinking about getting a new pair of glasses and having been eyeing that type, however I'm not sure I'm keen on wearing them everyday.

Me too-- I think it's just seeing them every day, everywhere, on (seemingly) everybody that turns me off to them. Otherwise I think they're awesome.

 i consider buddy holly more "emo" than "geek" - but that's a distinction i can't well explain ;)

i think a very small percentage of people can pull this off without looking ridiculous; but if they can pull it off, they look amazing.

I can't say I like this trend very much.. like Kimkhuu, I wear glasses, and I've had them most of my life (though I wear contacts oftentimes too). It seems strange to see people wearing fake glasses, because having bad eyesight certainly is not fun.

I love Marc Jacobs in them. I like the "geek chic" look. Not on me, but I'm often affracted to that on guys.

These geek glasses were a huge trend at my school for awhile, I must admit they did look good on the right girl.

I wear glasses and mine look a bit like .francesca's  .....but this geek look is dreadful. It reminds me of the glasses I had in junior school, when I had to have what my insurance would pay for!

I stumbled around blind all day and only put them on in class  .

All I can say is,a lot of people are going to end up with a lot of photos that they'll never show to anyone else again!
