I just saw "The Black Balloon". It was OK.

But Gemma is totally mesmerizing on screen. She looks just GORGEOUS. She lights up the screen everytime she is on it.

Her character - Jackie Masters - is a very well-written role, and Gemma plays her to perfection. There is a very funny scene with a tampon LOL.

I had low expectations for her as I felt she was too model-like for the role of an Australian student.

I agree though that she lit up the screen. She is so intriguing. Its in her eyes. She has that movie-star face.

i also saw 'the black balloon' and hung onto every gemma scene! my view of her as a top-model kinda made her role less beleivable though-she's a model thru&thru! but i think as a professional film acting debut-she was fabulous
