Gemma Ward complemented her gorgeous red lips with a floor-length white halter Toni Maticevski dress at the Sydney premiere of The Black Balloon at the Dendy Opera Quays in Australia last night. Chic Report got a few details from the supermodel cum actress before she hopped on a plane.
How did it feel to celebrate your role in this movie?
It was incredibly exciting…I was thrilled to see it all come to fruition and celebrate with all of the talented players who participated in the film.
How did you know this was a role you wanted to play?
Jackie was such a free spirit–she was someone that I could relate to while reflecting on my own childhood. Black Balloon brings a beautiful message to the world…I was honored from the very beginning to play a role in bringing it all together.
What did you do to prepare for the role?
I actually read all my old diary journal entries that I wrote when I was 15 years old! I also listened to ’90s music (i..e MC Hammer) to bring myself back to that time. Hanging out with my twin brothers and being a tomboy helped free myself up a bit and help me relate more closely with Jackie.
Can you relate to the character?
Yes of course — she very much resembled me as a young girl — free as a bird, silly, and quite a tomboy!
How did you chose which dress you would wear on the red carpet?
The minute I saw the Toni Maticevski gown, I knew it was perfect for the occasion. I adore that dress - it’s the epitome of elegant, Hollywood glamour.
What are your plans now? Relaxing? More work?
I will take it all as it comes to me…but I look forward to renovating my new apartment!
