heres a random question:

ive been wanting to buy the blackberry for a couple of years now, but right before i did, they went from the blue one to the dark navy/blackish one. the new ones look a LOT bigger, so i wanted a pic of someone actually holding it. gemma used to have the blue one, but is that one in her new pics the new version?
p.s, can someone find that pic of her from the back, with her holding it in her hand?

I don't think it's a stupid comparison by any means. Of course, Gemma hasn't earned it yet. But in terms of redefining beauty for a decade to come Gemma may just have done that. IMO, Kate was fashion's Kurt. She could dress up in anything and people could try to copy it but it just wouldn't work. Hence, nobody who tried the Kate thing; Stella Tennant, Shalom Harlow...succeeded with looking effortlessly elegant yet edgy. They just looked boring - at least it is safe to say they did not have Kate's broad appeal. Because what worked for Kate can't work for anyone with less sparkle and beauty.

Gemma, now, has redefined beauty in a way. When everyone knows that the most attractive face that can be achieved is anything with 1% fat and a gingerbread tan, here comes the slenderest of girls complete with a round doll face and porcelain skin. It's so perfect - such an obvious shift in ideals. Such a great way for ppl who are "with it" to clearly define themselves from the people that cling on to the bronzed (broiled) look.

^But nobody cares about shifts in beauty in the real world. But they do care about a musical movement involving bands from one country which ended up creating the atmosphere than changed a conservative government into a labour one. The glory days of New Labour with Noel Gallagher charging up to Downing Street. Kate just happened to represent that. The concept of London is very attractive even to those who aren't Londoners. There are Americans on this board who have confessed to being obsessed with Britpop and so many people who want to move to London (the 10 things about you thread). I am not sure Perth can make Gemma because it took Gemma for people to notice Perth.
